Introduction to Talavera
The bright colors and free-form designs featured on this traditional form of pottery from Mexico always make me smile, and I would like to share my passion for it with you.
Talavera pottery is a type of Mexican pottery produced in the cities of Puebla, Mexico, and Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
The ceramic pieces are hand formed and hand painted with stylized folk art designs, most often in colorful combinations such as yellow and cobalt blue.
While it is named after Talavera de la Reina, a city in Spain, the term "talavera" is mainly used to describe the Mexican derivation of this Majolica-style pottery.
Talavera pottery is a favorite for home and garden decor.
