Dragons of the Soul by Tammy M. Yourzek
Katie Martin, age 16, has just experienced a terrible loss: the death of Ty, her 18-year-old brother, the victim of a driving accident. Unable to communicate her despair, Katie tries to distract herself with her younger brother's new virtual reality game, only to find the fantasy adventures and characters of the game seem surprisingly real. Even more peculiar, Katie hears a voice calling to her within the game. Enlisting the help of her brother Alex and her friend Jessie, Katie plays the game with them and explores the different fantasy levels, realizing that she and her friends must locate six golden keys in order to unlock the game's secrets. All three believe that solving the game is the "key" to gaining some sort of contact with Ty, but soon become trapped inside the game. After many adventures, including confronting a dragon and being kidnapped by a mysterious character that has a will of his own, Katie and the others escape the virtual world and return to the real one. There, Katie realizes that she now has the courage to talk to her mother about the "dragons of her soul" her grief, her worry and her heartache.Buy This Book

They find themselves in the American west of the 1880s, in the company of a young man named Zack. From everyone of us that read the book, all of us at the corner table. I speak from us all saying the book may be a quick read but a memorable one at that. The deeper message is great, the fluidity of the story works. For teens or adults this is a great read.

As a "grownup", I thought Dragon of the Soul would be a "light read", but it turned out to be much, much more. Not just imaginative but so well written that experiences of the characters came to life and it was hard to put the book down. Can't wait to read the 2nd and 3 rd books
