Eric Clapton was born in Ripley, Surrey, England on March 30, 1945. He started his career as a band member of the Yardbirds, Cream, Blind and Faith, and Derek and the Dominos. During his band career, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once for the Yardbirds, and the other for the Cream. In 2000, he was once again inducted for the third time, as a solo artist.

Among the recognitions of Eric Clapton is being named as number four of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" by Rolling Stone magazine, and number 53 on the list of "The Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists of All Time". He has also won Grammy Awards for his single "Tears in Heaven", a song dedicated to his late son Connor who died at the age of 4.
