Discovering the SIMPLE Way to Market Information
Welcome to the Tandem Media lens! We are so glad you stopped by, and hopefully you can get to know us a little more. Tandem Media is a small business providing the Information World with...information. Simple enough? Yes! But just as easily complex. We are the voice, the expression, the appearance or image for any business, publication, ministry, individual, you name it--anyone who is considering the opportunity to wisely outsource their writing or graphic design needs saving time, money, and sanity.
Great, you're interested!
Here is a little more about what we do.
Business is not about numbers--it's about people who have a desire to be met with words of affirmation that they are benefiting in life by forming any sort of relationship with a company, product, service, information, or whatever you choose to offer them with today. People invest themselves in our lives in one way or another, and allow us to function from day to day. You wouldn't have an online store or law firm or farmer's market booth without them.
Words of affirmation...what is that? It's reaching out to people as if on a personal basis. Provide them with information... really interesting and useful information. Provide them with honesty, and tell them what you would like to do for them. These words have to be eloquent, insightful, and...more often than not, brief. People, nowadays may take 10 seconds to look at a website....if they can even spare that. That is why we also offer graphic design. If you already have to seek out a writer to hook a person with great information, why not stay one place for graphic design so you can really bring it with graphic appeal? We know the market, and we have yet to charge even half of what the majority charges, because hey, we're young and too impassioned in this business to get to the level where clients are too scared off to use people like us. We want to keep this business friendly, because that is just who we are!

Ana Talk: Blogs
Blogging SEO-Rich Content
Blogs are one of the best forms of expression in the social media realm. Photographers utilize blogs as an electronic portfolio to really demonstrate what they're made of. Families use blogs as a way to communicate to other extended family members. In our career, we see blogs used primarily for information that correlates to a business. A school supply businesses uses a blog to feature articles (or 'blog posts') that provide helpful and even entertaining information for teachers and parents in regards to their kiddos. For a writer composing blogs as a project for a client, blog articles must not only be informative, well-researched, and interesting, but they must each contain a decent amount of keywords either relating to the post's subject, the blog's subject, or company as a whole. This way, when passerby's Google or Bing that subject, your blog is ranking somewhere on their search. If they can make it to your blog, they will definitely make it to your company's website.SEO-Search Engine Optimization, can be done in so many creative ways. Spreading articles out online that back-link to your company's website is a big way to go. Other people have used press-releases and other social media routes like Gather, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter.
Blogs are taking the SEO approach by storm. They are easy, fun to do, and bring a whole new approach and easy-going attitude to the company when company websites tend to be more serious, and well, down to business! If you are new to blogging, I recommend beginning with Blogger, Wordpress.com, or Wordpress.org to get started. If you need any help along the way, hey, that's what we're here for.
Right now we're having special blog pricing!

Derek Talk: Brochures and Sales Letters
The visual appeal of your company first-the details second.
I one the biggest requests that I get as a graphic designer is for brochures and sales letters either pertaining to a specific product or as an informational tool that markets an entire company. Effective graphic design goes beyond the art side of things. Graphic design concerning things like brochures and sales letters need to abide by the three e's in my book: easy to layout for a printer to limit your costs in their design work, efficient in grabbing attention and providing easy access to pertinent information (phone, email, address), and effective--promotes a call to action (you HAVE to buy this or call us after hearing how seeing how obviously amazing we are). Do this, and you've got a SURE fire way of getting business or attention your way!

Ana Talk: Sales Letters
The Personal Billboard
I love LOVE writing sales letters! To me, unless it IS a personal letter between two people, a sales letter couldn't be a more personal marketing tool. You are getting a chance to promote something like you would a brochure or flyer, but from the minute you say "Dear {whomever}," you have made a connection, a personal connection. From then on, someone is more likely to read everything you want to say. The tone is professional, but again, personal. I spend a good deal of time focusing on the exact words that would play on the emotions or sympathies of the target market. When writing a letter between other businesses or to a client, you want to knock out the following advertising points:*Convince someone that time, affordability, and value are in your hands, and don't sell a product, sell yourself.
*The headline needs to grab attention.
*Plug in subheadings that will keep people just skimming over info still interested.
*Is it interesting, are all benefits presented?
*Did you conclude with a call to action?
*Did you PROOFREAD!!!?!?!?
Even though sales letters uses more text in place of design, Derek and I still love to combine a design element to any letter. If our job is to promote a business, service or product, we want our clients to be represented the best way possible. Clipart doesn't cut it anymore.
