During the cold months of the winter, everyone can't wait for the snow to melt and for the summer to arrive.  We all have thoughts of sunny beaches, and if you are lucky you may even get a break from the freezing temperatures and travel south to a more tropical climate.

However, once summer comes it is imperative to keep your body cool and hidrated.  Many people especially the elderly and those with certain health conditions suffer from the heat.  Many deaths have been recorded as a result.

So read on to make sure you are taking the proper measures to stay cool in the summer.

Alen Corporation A350 Air Purifier

In adition to staying cool in your home, you also want to clean up the air. Often times heat and humidity can cause problems with air quality. Many people fit an air conditioning system which covers the main floors of their house. If you have a basement and like many people use that area for storage, then you also need to think about buying a dehumidifier.

The dehumidifier will take the moister out of the air. Too much moister will encourage mold growth which could ruin whatever you have in storage. Therefore a dehumidifier is definitely a wise investment. The Sunpentown Dehumidifier will collect and hold 60 pints of moisture at a time and costs $179.00 making it a perfect addition to the basement. You will be happy when all your storage items are mold free.

Avoid the Heat: Tips to Stay Cool

Enjoy the Summer without suffering from the heat and humidity.
  1. Drink Water!! This is obvious yet still very important. It is easy to gain access to water from home, but make sure you take it with you on trips out of the house.
  2. Check on your neighbors. Especially if you live around the elderly, make sure they are safe since they are the most likely to suffer from the heat.
  3. Stay in air conditioned environments during as much of the middle part of the day as possible.
  4. If you know you will be going out then make sure you plan ahead by bringing sunscreen, plenty of water, and hats.
  5. Do your best to seek out shady areas. If this means taking a break and resting in an air conditioned mall or coffee shop then do so.
  6. Definitely do not leave pets or children in the car alone in the parking lot. Even if you only plan to be gone for a few minutes, the temperature in the car can go well over 100 degrees Farenheit. Park in the shade if you can, but know that this still will not protect children and dogs in the car.
  7. Use common sense, and be aware of the dangers that come from prolonged exposure to heat. Theres no way you can sit in the house all day, just make sure you stay safe when you go out.

Water Slide

Dubai Wild Wadi Water Slide - 1st Person View!

This is the 'Jumeirah Sceirah' Water Slide at Wild Wadi in Dubai. It's the highest and fastest freefall waterslide outside of America. I wanted to see what it looked like on camera as when you go down yourself, you cant see a thing! This was taken with an Ixus 800 in waterproof housing.
