Tanning, Bronzing, Sun Bathing

Whatever you call it, it all boils down to one thing. Baking in the sun for cosmetic purposes. Sunshine carries Vitamin D which is good for you, but excessive exposure to the sun unprotected can cause harmful effects, such as aging and skin cancer. That being said, for those of us who are going to do it anyway I have created some really great (or they have been for me anyway) tanning oils/ lotions that you can concoct right from your very own kitchen! In my opinion, these are better than the kind you can buy at the store. It also helps I know what is going in them! So get out your mixing bowls, ladies and gents and lets make some tanning simulators! Please be aware that these tanning oils do not contain SPF.

Instead of using the Guestbook at the bottom of my lens, I am creating a special section for the inevitable skin cancer warning comments. So leave your vents and lectures right here people:

1 shot espresso
1 tsp of cocoa powder

Melt the coconut oil with the cocoa powder over heat. add the other ingredients and let sit, until Luke warm and spread elaborately over your body until covered. Lay foil out on the highest elevation you can get, preferably next to water such as a lake or pool. Bake at UV 7 for 1 hour or until done. Avoid burning.

Broiled Sesame Human Being

4 Tbsp Sesame oil
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
3 Tbsp Baby Oil
1/2 tsp Iodine

Mix together and apply. Bake at the desired temperature for the desired amount of time. Be sure to apply a cooling and skin firming lotion, or lotion that contains Aloe Vera immediately following sun exposure. Drink plenty of water.

The iodine in this recipe is for immediate sunless tanning/ bronzing purposes. Add more as desired.

Yep, you are just asking for skin cancer!

trust me says:

ok some sun we need it but it can cause cancer I lay out 30 min a day 2 to 3 days a week I have a great tan For the young person that dont care Tell you what when your 50 and your skin is all wrinkled and dried up good for you you get cancer event better NOT.You will wish you lessoned more kids are getting skin cancer from tanning .Not smart

susannaduffy says:

Why would anyone want to deliberately encourage themselves to have wrinkled patchy skin, burns to the retina and an instant 5-years-older look, apart from trivial matters like skin cancer which kills you. It's safer to play on the freeway in peak hour

italianheart92 says:

A little is good but too much of a good thing is always a bad thing

genewolfe says:

over exposure can be harmful moderation is good

No, the sun is here for a reason. It is good for you!

Marcy says:

No, I think that a nice tan looks good! Obviousely, you should still wear sunsceen most of the time you are out, but it is not a horrible thing to do to maybe lay out for an hour with a little bit of tanning oil once a week! However, I definately do not recomend tanning salons, because I have people at a very young age shrivel to a rasin from tanning at salons.

Cheerleader23 says:

No way if you get 10 hours a day its bad but if you just sit there for an hour it will give you a nice Heathly tan. However tanning salons can be bad for you cause it is directly on your skin and isn't really then sun!

SynchronicityHouse says:

We need the sun for Vitamin D for our bodies - lack of which causes illnesses, SAD, depression. Sunshine is wonder-full! Just be sensible; keep out of the sun at the hottest times - 11:30am till 3pm in summer.

hayley says:

im at a very young age, and before, iused to be quite afraid to do most things, tanning for instance, then one horrific day i lost a person that had a big impact on my life, he was quite young 45-ish, and it made me come to the conclusion, that, regardless we can die at anyminute, so mite as well live, with no worries, you will never know when you may die, so mite aswell live happy instead of worrying about things that cause death, or cancer, because, truthfully, anyway were going to die, :p my father had cancer, and he couldnt prevent it.. and if i age old and look wrinckely, it shouldnt matter, because iwas taught tht beauty is on the inside, if a majorty of people want to stay afraid of the sun, and getting old, well that is just simply who they are.. but we all are going to get old, and wrinckely and physically ugly, so i frankly could care less, id rather die ugly outside and perfectly lived and happy on the inside, instead of dying filled with worry and unlived miseary, irealize that imite just be 15, mabye naive..but loosing a father that lived his life helped me realize that life is way to short to be hidden in fear of uglyness, beauty is inner <3 just, some people are to ignorant to remember what they were taught by there parents when they were younger,

JEN says:

No cause i like to look hot and tan i dont really care ill deal with that when im old and 50 im only 13 so i dont care

    This is to hayley:
Hi hayley i loved what u said regarding suntanning. yep, beauty is on the inside and people should not worry about being beautiful forever on the outside because that will never happen. We are all going to age and get old eventually. So live and have a little fun in the sun.
My heart goes out to you regarding your father's passing. My condolences to you and your family. I know how it is to lose a loved one.
Your blog was the best one on here, well that's my opinion anyway. I loved it and i think your a great girl the way you care so much. I also think that all girls your age should think just like you, instead of being so immature for their age.
My heart goes out to you and your family in this time of need for comfort and reassuring. God Bless You.

I love the sunshine - nothing makes me a feel better and happier than a few hours of sensible time in the awesome sunshine (hmmm - it's in short supply in England sadly -(and Coconut Oil is the best suntan lotion!). I think we need the sunshine for natural wellbeing, our physical as well as our mental health.
