About Taramosalata
Taramosalata is well known especially in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. Usually it is one of a lot of dishes in a Cyprus meze and eaten as a dip with bread or vegetables.
How To Prepare Taramosalata
Taramosalata is traditionally made out of taramas, the salted roe of the cod or carp. The roe is either mixed with bread crumbs or mashed potatoes. Parsley, onion, lemon juice, olive oil and vinegar are added and it is seasoned with salt and pepper.
Depending on the type of roe used, the color of taramosalata can be different. You will find taramosalata in colors from beige to bright pink.
A similar dip is well known in Romania. But salata de icre, how it is called there, is usually made with hering roe and instead of olive oil, vegetable oil is used.
