Tarpon Season: The Best Time To Fish

Tarpon season is a great time of year especially if you are a Florida tarpon fisherman. I wouldn't per se call it much of a season as it is just a wonderful time to fish. But since it is pretty much cyclical I guess you could call it a season. So, just when is this magical time of year? During the great annual tarpon migration of course.

Tarpon Season: The Three Magical Months

Every year the annual tarpon migration culminates throughout the Florida coastal waters. Literally hundreds of thousands of tarpon congregate and spawn a multitude of fingerlings to keep their species alive and thriving. This tarpon migration occurs along the Florida coast during the months of March, April, May, June and July with the absolute hottest times being around the months of May, June and July.

Reason being that those three magical months are the absolute best time for Tarpon season is that they are returning from their mating rituals into the rich warm waters of the Florida coast absolutely famished and HUNGRY!

The Best Tarpon Fishing Book Ever!

Shallow ocean, or "flats," fishing is one of the most popular coastal activities in Florida. No other place has such a large combination of different shallow water species. In Fishing Florida's Flats, world-champion angler Jan Maizler draws on the expertise of numerous "flatsmasters" who share their wisdom on how to land a trophy catch.

"This is one of the best books ever compiled and published about specific regionalized fishing techniques. It might just rival Vic Dunaway's classic, Baits, Rigs and Tackle. This book will pay for itself on your first outing on the water and you might want to check out the other books by Maizler. He's in a class by himself when bringing authoritative fishing basics to life for the reader. Number one on my list of presents to give people that fish -- novice or expert alike."

Fishing Florida's Coast

Fishing Florida's Coast represents the culmination of Mr. Maizler's goal of creating a "how-to¿ book that covers the majority of Florida's marine fish. Fishing Florida's Coast provides precise coverage on recommended tactics, tackle, and techniques. The chapters combine to create a textbook of lucid instruction and advice on how marine anglers can achieve and maintain success for the species that they seek.
