The take along computer and task.fm

cell phones

While most people do still use a desktop or a laptop at home, most people are now accustomed to taking their information with them on the road. Cell phones are compact, store a lot of information and can also be used to access the web. For this reason, many people use twitter from their phones.

If this sounds like you, then you can easily set up reminders using your twitter account, no matter where you are. If you don't have a twitter account, then it's time you got one! Once you have that set up, sending yourself reminders is as easy as 1-2-3.

Log into (or create a) task.fm account. It is free and easy to do!

Once you are in your account you can go into "settings" and configure it to sync with your twitter account.

Be sure to click "yes" to allow access to twitter!

Once you have done that, your browser will go back to your task.fm page and you can start setting up reminders via twitter..

Sending a reminder with twitter

using your task.fm account

So, you're on twitter and you remember an appointment that you want to be reminded of. You simply send a direct message to @taskfm
Your message should look something like this:

d @taskfm meeting with bob tomorrow at 6pm

Task.fm cannot process @ requests on twitter so be sure it is a direct message by prefacing it with a "d" as the above illustration. You will receive confirmation back within about a minute and your reminder will be sent to you. Task.fm is simple to use and will understand commands such as;

get off the computer in 30 minutes (d @taskfm get off the computer in 30 minutes)

meeting with bob tomorrow noon (d @taskfm meeting with Bob tomorrow noon)

remind me to call Jan next Tuesday at 8:30am (d @taskfm remind me to call Jan next Turesday at 8:30 am)

remind me about the product meeting every Tuesday at 9am (d @taskfm remind me about the product meeting every Tuesday at 9am)

That's it! With just a few short, simple steps you can easily send yourself reminders using twitter to contact your task.fm account. You'll never have to worry about forgetting appointments again once you get your free account with Task.FM

    What are the terms of service like..do they sell your info, or send you a bunch of affiliates info? Sounds like a really useful service, especially for people that use their Black Berry's or Cells for everything.
