What's Better Than a Tattoo?

A temporary tattoo!

Temporary airbrush tattoos (tats) come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They last up to two weeks, can be put anywhere you want, and are painless. The best part, though, is that airbrush tattoos are temporary. You can change your look for every occasion, while preventing a freak-out from your parents, or a stern talking-to from your boss.

Choose your colors; choose your design!

Top Ten Reasons to Get a Temporary Airbrush Tattoo

  1. Temporary airbrush tattoos are safe: Since the ink is applied to the top of the skin and not into the skin, airbrush tattoos pose no risks for infections or diseases. Also, all inks are made of FDA-approved ingredients.

  2. Tats are affordable: Most artists charge between $5 and $10 per tat.

  3. Tats take only minutes to apply: Tat artists use stencils and airbrush guns to make application quick and easy.

  4. Change your tat with your mood: Airbrush tattoos come off easily with rubbing alcohol or Tat-Off.

  5. Tats last up to two weeks: With proper care and quality ink, tats look great for up to two weeks.

  6. Your parents won't be mad: Not a waste of money, no risk of infection, and it's temporary. Why wouldn't they love it?

  7. Your boss won't be mad: It shows you have a fun side, and it's temporary. Why wouldn't she love it?

  8. If they are mad, you can take it off: (And then get a new one next weekend!)

  9. Needles are not involved: Needles are scary, dangerous, and painful. They're also nowhere near the vicinity of your skin when you get a temporary airbrush tattoo.

  10. Tats don't hurt!: All you'll feel is air as you watch a beautiful tattoo form.

Okay, So Where Can I Get One of These?

Where to Get an Airbrush Tattoo

Airbrush Tattoo artists live and work in states across the USA and countries across the globe. Many of them are available for hire at private parties and events, but you can also find them in booths at local fairs and festivals.

To find an artist near you, use TatStore's Artist Directory. You can search by region, state, or zip code.

If you would like to learn how to apply tats to your friends and family, you can buy a small kit with just a few guns and stencils. Browse an online store for small kits or do some research about your other options. If you decide you like the kit, there are plenty of business opportunities within the tat industry.

Also, you can visit TatStore's blog to learn about prominent artists in the airbrush tattoo community and see what they're doing.

How to Care For Your Temporary Airbrush Tattoo

We've all heard how to take care of a temporary airbrush tattoo a thousand times. "Do not rub or scrub the tat. After showering, pat the tat dry and apply powder to it. If clothing rubs against the tat, it will have a tendency to wear off faster." But do these techniques really work, or do they just take the blame off the ink manufacturers? This is my experiment:

I received two tats in one day. They were done by the same person, with the same equipment, on the same place on my body (opposite sides), and with the same ink. Here are the pictures of the newly-finished tats:

For the next week, I maintained a regular schedule. I got normal amounts of sleep, exercised regularly, and showered nearly every day.

However, I did not treat these two tats the same. I sleep on my right side (the side with the sun), so I chose the butterfly to take proper care of. With the butterfly, I patted it with the washcloth in the shower, patted it dry with the towel, put baby powder on it afterward, and made a special effort to not drag my clothing over it when I dressed.

The sun was not so lucky. I dragged washcloths and towels and clothing over it, and I slept on it for 8 hours a night. One week later, these are the results:

Clearly, the sun is not doing so well. My conclusion? Not taking care of your tat does affect it. And consciously taking care of it has positive repercussions. Obviously, they both are much lighter than they were a week prior, but after being battered with daily exercise and showers, we cannot expect much better.

This is my testimonial to proper airbrush tattoo care. Do not rub it, do not scrub it, keep it dry, and you should have a long-lasting tat.

Easily Duratat. I got one of these babies and it lasted for three weeks before it started to fade. I got a Georgia Bulldog so that when I went to the game, I had something cool to show off to the boys underneath the tailgating tents.

Duratat rules the roost. I learned on Duratat, and have had no troubles. In fact, Mindy's tat lasted three weeks - no kidding.

Had never heard of airbrushing tattoos. Great way to try before you buy - or keep your options open and change the tattoo with your mood. Thanks!

I love this idea! Hopefully now I can convince my friend that getting a leap frog electronics tattoo is a bad idea. Yeah that's right he thinks that would make a great ironic tattoo...

Wow I can't begin to tell you how awesome I think this is. Then again I'm just picturing the faces of my friends at the next tailgating party convincing them that I actually got a tattoo. Talk about making their "tailgating tents" blow away...ok not really but it will still be good.
