Body Tattoos
Well over half the population of the planet have one or more tattoos, some of great social and cultural significance, some just because they look good. Either way they are a significant personal statement that you will carry with you for the rest of your life and you should gather as much knowledge as you can before making the decision to have a Tattoo.
The more you know about Tattoos, how they are done and how they will behave as you age and your body changes, the more likely you are to have a Tattoo that will look good for the rest of your life.

A tattoo is a marking made by inserting indelible ink into the layers of skin to change the pigment for decorative or other reasons. Tattoos on humans are a type of decorative body modification, while tattoos on animals are most commonly used for identification or branding.
Tattooing has been practiced worldwide. The Ainu, the indigenous people of Japan, traditionally wore facial tattoos. Today one can find Berbers of Tamazgha (North Africa), Maori of New Zealand, and Atayal of Taiwan with facial tattoos. Tattooing was widespread among Polynesian peoples and among certain tribal groups in the Taiwan, Philippines, Borneo, Mentawai Islands, Africa, North America, South America, Mesoamerica, Europe, Japan, Cambodia, New Zealand and Micronesia. Despite some taboos surrounding tattooing, the art continues to be popular in many parts of the world.

Tattoos are pretty much permanent. They hurt going on, and hurt even worse and cost a great deal more coming off, so make sure that you get the right oneIf you're serious about getting a tattoo, make sure that the design you choose is something you'll be happy about forty years on. When you consider which kind of tattoo design to get, yourself a few questions
1 - Why am I getting a tattoo? Is it self-expression, marking an important turning point in life or paying tribute to someone or something you love and care about
2 - Will I still care about it in fifty years? If it is a life event, or a true passion, the asnwer is probably yes. Do remember that interest and passions change as we grow, so choose a design that will reflect that
3 - Am I going to be embarrassed explaining this to parents, children or grandchildren? You don't have to explain your tattoo to anyone, but how would you feel about it if you had to.
Once you have answered these questions the and only then should you go looking for designs. Don't be afraid to ask the artist to personalize an 'off the shelf' design or draw something for you. If they are true tattoo artists they will be happy to do that, and would expect to. Don't rush, no good artist will want you to regret your decision.
Most artists will take your basic ideas and draw something that is uniquely yours. Just remember when choosing your design to ask, "What am I trying to express? Why do I want a tattoo? What's important to me?" If you ask these questions, you will ultimately find the right tattoo for you
