Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber?A Cardio Dream Machine

If you have been working out or following a fitness program, you know the importance of effective cardio training. Talk to any trainer or fitness professional and they will tell you that you should start and end your workout with some type of cardio.

Why You Should Consider A Treadclimber

Cardio training can be accomplished on any number of machines at the gym. An exercise bike, a treadmill, a stair stepper or an elliptical trainer all provide the desired cardio stimulation. Each one has it's own set of benefits and some people prefer one over the other.

In conjunction with Nautilus, the Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber was developed in response to this need. This machine is manufactured by Nautilus and marketed by Bowflex. With names like these two associated, quality is not a question.

The Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber combines the fluid motion of a tread mill with the intensity of a stair stepper. The machine has two separate foot pads unlike a treadmill which has one. Each foot pad moves up and down independently. As the left foot pad descends, the right one ascends.

As a result, the impact is essentially zero since the motion of the Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber is completely fluid. This is an important aspect for people with bad knees or feet making this machine perfect for anybody.

Treadclimber Workout

Bowflex gave the TC5000 an incline feature that adds to the cardio workout you receive. By using an interval workout, the cardio effect is enhanced.
Here is an example of an interval workout:

  • Five minutes at 2 mph, level 0 (flat)

  • Five minutes at 2.5 mph, some incline (maybe 2%) Raises the heart rate.

  • Five minutes at 2.5 mph, 0 incline. Lowers the heart rate.

  • Five minutes at 3 mph, again with the 2% incline. Raises the heart rate.

  • Finish off with 10 minutes at 2 mph, 0 incline to warm down and lower the heart rate.

Using this type of workout, you increase the effectiveness of the cardio portion. This gives you more endurance for the rest of your workout, but how do you know you are getting the rises and falls of the heart rate? The Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber has an integrated heart rate monitor built in. This allows you to watch your heart rate and keep it in the optimum range not only for fat burning purposes but to ensure safety as well.

As with all things like this, before you embark on a workout program, see your doctor and make SURE you are not overdoing it. The Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber is a great machine, but it doesn't tell you when to stop.
Speak to a trainer at your local gym, they will be able to help you set up your workout routine based on your personal needs and limitations.
