How To Help To Teach Your Child To Read
Here are the Top 10 tips for teaching your child to read
1) You should try to read fun stories to and with your child every day. You will both enjoy it.
2) You should talk about what you can see in the pictures in the books you read and ask your child to predict what will happen next in the story to increase their skills with their imagination
3) Make sure you let them see you reading things that you enjoy so they can see that reading is a thing they want to learn to do themselves.
4) You need to play games to develop phonemic awareness from before the time they are ready to read and if you haven't done it then spend time doing it now.
5) Remember to teach what sound each letter of the alphabet makes, not its name, but most of all, make it fun!
6) Remember to teach lowercase letters first rather than capitals.
7) The first thing to teach them to recognise can be their own name and family members' names and you can focus on the initial letter and name length. (This will slowly get them introduced to capitals and when they are needed)
8) Make sure to teach sight words by playing fun games.
9) Try and search the web for resources and information. Check out some links below to help you out.
10) Make sure to keep it fun and pressure-free! Children learn at their own rate; and the happier they are, the more motivated they are and the quicker they will learn when they are ready.

- I am absolutely RAVING about this site to all who will listen especially at the school gates here in Spain.
I am up to the 3rd letter of the online course with my twins and its so rewarding and fun and enjoyable to be teaching them to read in this fun, bite size way!
I think this memory will be with me forever and I KNOW their reading skills they are learning will be forever too.
