The Author
In 2005 he moved to Osaka, Japan, with thoughts of meeting new people, witnessing the culture and exploring the other mysteries that awaited. He joined Nova, a Japanese conversation school, and taught English to Japanese students from all over Japan by using a computer and the Internet.
The Nova corporation was huge. They had over 500,000 students at one time and maintained about 4,000 teachers. John worked in the Multimedia Center with a few hundred other teachers and did all of of his teaching with a webcam, microphone and their special software.
The Money
Guess how much?
About $70.00 for one 40 minute English lesson was the average!
Soon afterwards John discovered the technology called Skype and realised that the technology was good enough to allow people to talk with each other from most parts of the world with an Internet connection. John then developed a way to teach english online and pretty soon had his first student who actually lived in Korea. More and more students were enrolled after John realised that he had to market himself and created a website to do just that.
Eventually the bugs were worked out and a student base formed that paid every month.
Nova eventually went bust and John went full-time.
The Idea was Born
How secure is your current job?
The experience motivated John to write the e-book, "How To Teach English Online and Get Money"
Opening your own online English school actually gives you the security of knowing that you are fully in control of your destiny. This means that you won't have to worry if you're going to get laid off or if you can't find a good job in the future.
And with this current global economy, it's best to make and save as much money as possible. Teaching English online will supplement your income.
The experience at Nova led to John working too hard and he developed TMJ disorder which stands for temporomandibular joint disorder. It's kind of like arthritis of the jaw which can affect the muscles in the face and neck as well. This led to the decision to take time off to pursue the e-book idea and other projects as well.
The Market
China has over 1.3 billion people.
Japan has over 127 million people.
Turkey has over 70 million people.
Korea has over 49 million people.
Spain has over 45 million people.
Switzerland has over 7 million people.
John realised that there are literally billions of people in the world who don't speak English as their first language. And a good percentage of those people want to improve their English. The ESL business is a goldmine. And the Skype model has yet to be tapped to its fullest potential.
Are you ready to start teaching English online? All you need is a computer, a decent Internet connection, a microphone, some speakers, and an instant messaging program like Skype (or even Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger or Google Talk).
Enjoy the freedom of being your own boss. Keep all of the profits for yourself and your family. Once your online English school is up and running, you will have the freedom to operate your business as you see fit. The e-book will show you step by step what you need to do in order to be successful. You will find paying students. You won't have to rely on an unpredictable corporation to supply your salary.
By teaching English online, you can name your own salary, teach as much or as little as you want. You'll also have the flexibility to teach at any hour you want.
