Getting Started.....?
Getting started on something like this is like contemplating swimming the ocean....I have no idea where to start, so I just dove in. Bear with me as I learn the ropes. My kids are into Facebook and MySpace, well, now mom has her space...Squidoo. I hope they don't laugh. My 77 yr old mother would definitely think I have surrendered to the throes of menopause!
I understand Squidoo is about your passion, and one of my passions is home business. Ask my kids. I see everything as an opportunity, and as a homeschool mom, every opportunity is a learning opportunity. So many kids graduate home school and don't have a clue what they want to do. Sure, some go on to college (-one of my boys is in college -a business major, surprise, surprise!),- but they don't really know what they want to do. Ok! It's not a problem exclusive to homeschoolers. There are definitely public schoolers with the same problem, but I do think it is addressed a little more directly in public schools-with a similar outcome, tho.
Solution? Start a home business! Any parent that has taken the time out of their life to homeschool knows their child's passions and gifts. Most kids are up for the challenge, but time is always an issue. That's why we made it a part of our 'school'. You can incorporate it into your curriculum, or make it a semester project. There's many ways to do it that will fit your family. The best part is that (usually) it will pay for itself. I haven't met a homeschool family yet that didn't need the extra money!
Well, that's all for now, guess I need to go read other's Squidoo's to know exactly how to proceed!

...how to make a million dollars in your spare time
Now, you would think it would seem so preposterous that no one would fall for it, but these sites are usually written so well that they could get an Eskimo to buy a snow-making machine!
The good thing is, there are still ways to make money, even alot of money online. I won't promise mega-bucks overnight, but with a little creativity and alot of hard work and persistence, you will make some extra money.
Take the story of Ashley Qualls. The epitome of "Why didn't I think of that??". It's never to late to start, the only difference between those who do make money online and those who don't .....is that those who don't make any money, didn't do anything about it.
Soooo, here we go, the top 5 ideas for homeschoolers have 2 main qualifiers: Low start up capitol, and flexible hours so it can be done around your schooling.
1. EBAY!
You've heard about it, read about it, and you're almost sick of everybody talking about it. But it still remains one of the ideal ways ANYBODY can start a business with practically nothing and still make a good income. The key? Educate yourself and plan on working hard.
2. BLOGGING for Dollars.
I know you've heard about blogging, but did you know that you can make a decent income if you do it right? Google 'blog for money', or 'make money blogging' and you will find more information than you need to get started. Joel Comm is the current guru on the subject, sign up for his email and go from there.
3. LOCAL SERVICES.
You know the routine, babysitting, mowing lawns, pet care, are just a few suggestions. If you have already been doing it and don't see how you can make money at it, start thinking of it like a business, make flyers, brochures, and be the best at what you do. Need more ideas on getting started? Go to www.homeschool-entrepreneur.com for more ideas.
4. START A WEBSITE
Recently a major internet marketer featured an 8 year old who made a million dollars with a fart site. Yep, you read that right, his mom asked him what he would like to do for a business online, and that is what he came up with. Go figure. My point is, find the right idea and anything is possible!
5. SELL SOMETHING UNIQUE!
Do you make the best chocolate chip cookies ever made, or the most scrumptious cinnamon bread? Call your Ag Center and ask for information on making and selling homemade products so you stay legal, then go for it! I'll buy some!
Here's just five ideas to get your entrepreneur brain going, I'm sure you can think of even better ideas if you try, just be sure to do something you love. You will spend over half your life working, why not do what you love most? Start when you're young, work hard and be the best at what you do and you can't fail.
uhhh...one more thing...would you do me a favor and send me an email and tell me your story and we'll post it on a new site we're working on dedicated to families and/or kids with their own business. You can email me at: homebizfamily@comcast.net. Thanks! I'll make sure you are glad you did.
Have fun!

Social Entrepreneurism. It's not something I learned in school, but then most of what I have learned in the last few years didn't even exist when I was in school. Ebay for instance. Pierre Omidyar, the creator of Ebay just 10 years ago, not only created the platform for thousands of entrepreneurs to start their own business from practically nothing, now is donating $100 million to generate a University program to offer start-up loans starting as low as $40 to entrepreneurs in poverty stricken areas like Bangladesh, India and others.Give them a fish, feed them for a day, Teach them to fish, feed them for a lifetime.
Maybe we should ask Pierre to throw a few mil to our American schools for entrepreneur training?
