Teach Your Kids To Squidoo

Interested in helping your children build an online business? It really isn't that hard and with tools like Squidoo, it becomes even easier.

It's a known fact that Squidoo ranks really well in Google and is a perfect tool for highlighting a website.

What I don't think a lot of people realise is that it is a great way to teach kids some of the marketing basics that will set them up for later life.

This lens is designed to show you how you can teach, and coach, your children to make Squidoo Lens.

Young Entrepreneurs - are they special?

I have been coaching my children to build their online businesses over the last 6 to 8 months. Each child responds differently and works at their own pace.

My daughter, for example, understood the power of building a business and the work required. She was off an running in November 2007, with a simple blog and a recipe Ebook. However, before that - she started creating Squidoo lenses. On anything that took her fancy (as long as I approved them, of course). Check out her work: Rhis Lenses

My son was a bit slower to take it all up. He started making lenses but wasn't as diligent as his sister. However, he is exceptional at helping me maintain my blogs, updating posts etc. He now has his own website and is moving down the Online Marketing path.

I found that by introducing them to Squidoo, it was easy to let their imaginations go into overdrive and let them develop their own little "web pages" discussing what they wanted.

The tools within Squidoo make it easy, setup up a Text / Write, start typing; Add an Amazon module and find similar products to what your typing about.

Are my kids any different to the kids next door? I don't believe so, both have incredibly messy rooms, they forget to do their homework, don't know what "clean up" means and enjoy mucking around.

There is a YouTube video below showing an interview I did with the kids the other day talking about their businesses, I hope it shows how normal they are!

Easy Things For Your Kids To Do

To Build Their Business

I am always looking for ways to encourage my kids to market their businesses, that doesn't cost money.

The two things that I have found that works really well are Blogging and Article writing. I can hear some people now saying how hard it is for youngsters to write, but let me assure you - give them a topic that they are interested in and you will be amazed at what they can achieve.

Morgan, who struggles at one level with spelling and writing, has written some wonderful articles and blog posts about one of his favourite topics, online gaming. Morgans blog posts can be viewed at RPG Guild Hall, online Role Playing Games and he has several articles published at E-Zine Articles, view Morgans articles on online role playing games.

Rhiannon has always enjoyed creative writing and has taken to blogging and writing articles like a "duck takes to water"! Her blog posts can be viewed at her Learn to Be Psychic blog and her articles on developing psychic ability are published on E-Zine articles.

The byproduct of this type of activity is that both childrens writing abilities and school work has improved incredibly.

Blogging and article writing are great ways for children to promote their online business at little to no cost.

We used this game to help the children understand cash flow and how to make their money work for them instead the other way round.

Even today, the children still speak of DooDads and Passive Income.

An excellent resource

Perhaps the e-game is more your style.

What Do You Think?

What a brilliant idea! Both my kids (ages 7 and 2) love the computer. It blows my mind how kids pick up this stuff. I think it's a great idea to teach your kids to Squidoo. My only fear is they will get poor ratings from people because of their lack of writing ability and such things? What's you take on that? I guess I should read the book offered? Great lens!

Squidoo-ing is so much fun - haven't shown my son how yet but it's great idea to get him started with squidoo as an intro to internet marketing.

Give Your Kids A Good Start

This is an audio that our children have listened to... Rich Kid Smart Kid by Robert Kiyosaki. My children have listened to this audio - on their own and really enjoyed.

More importantly, they got a lot out of it and continue to do so.
