Teenagers Make Money

You have to meet Carol. She is a 16-year-old girl who is making more money in 90 days than most adults will make in more than 5 years! She is an affiliate marketer. You will have to ignore the fact that she is a bit cocky and arrogant. But if you can get past that, you will be surprised at the money she is able to make.

As parents, we all wish our kids well. We want them to be productive citizens who are able to face the world as adults with skills to succeed in hand.

Encourage your children's goals. As we speak, my children are making little gimp/wire keychains and selling them at school. They pay all of their little helpers $1 each and give the rest to the PTO. How great is that? They actually replaced another girl who had everyone working for free and would donate under just her own name. The other kids got no recognition for their work and donation. This was not right. The kids were angry. When approached to handle this differently, the other child resisted. My children, along with a group of kids, decided to go off on their own. They were happy with one little dollar for hours of work and they all got to donate. What a valuable life lesson about recognizing people for what they give.

They have tried things from time to time. I try to be encouraging when it is actually doable. I figure they will learn early business sense and skills that they can build on.

Kids know the internet. They can find their way around it better than most of us can. And yes, there are respectable, non-spammy ways to make a great living online. Why not oversee their attempt to try their hand at it? At the very worst, they will walk away with great internet marketing skills they can use in the future.
