Teen Bras - when to buy your first bra and how to choose it
Ranked #2,856 in Shopping, #20,504 overall
Choosing your first bra
Loads of girls are worried or embarrassed about choosing their first bra.
Whether your mum is supportive or not, it's important that you should choose when you start wearing a bra and are happy with the style, colour and fit.
If you're starting to feel embarrassed about your budding breasts, then it's probably the right time to go out and buy that first bra. Even if you don't feel that you've got much to cover up - you can still feel self-conscious at school if everyone else is wearing a bra and you aren't yet.
Girls can start wearing bras from as young as 9 or 10, whilst others don't start to really need one until they're 15 or 16.
The most important thing is that you should feel comfortable - whatever age or size you are - if you'd feel happier wearing a bra, then it's time to grab mom and go shopping!

Why You Should Be Properly Fitted
Teenagers often feel uncomforable in their first bra - don't let it happen to you
Buying a bra "off the shelf" might be fine once you've finished growing. However, during the first few years whilst your body is still growing and changing, it's important to wear well-fitted, supportive underwear.

- Marks&Spencers are really good for bra's, Im sure theres one near you (: Lots near me.
Tips to asking:
I got together all my old training bras (apart from the one I was wearing) and put them on some paper, and on the paper had written: 'Mum - these are all bit tight, need to get proper type?'
Next day - Guess what? I went shopping with her (:

- Hey, I'm 12, soon to be 13. I got my first bra at age 11, it was one of those crop tops (: My mum got me a pack of 3 and I was SO embarrassed when she bought them home, really dreading it. But then its ok, everyone else wheres one. Whats there to be embarrased about? I went and bought a proper bra with my friend, cos she wore one in like Year 5. Early, she didnt need it, but hey-ho. I bought a spongebob one (: Its better if you get something you like, makes it easier. Now my mum just buys me them all the time. Im 32A btw.. Incase you want to know if its normal?

- Well...here we go. When I was about 10 I got my first bras but they weren't really proper ones. Basically, one time when I went clothes shopping with my mum, she told me I should get a bra, but now she won't buy me one unless I get fitted first! I'm 13 now and a 32B, although I was only like a AA when I got fitted the first time. I wore my first ones for aaaages, until they were practically falling apart ( I only had 2 ) so I just threw them away and told my mum I needed a new bra. Turns out I'd gone up 2 cup sizes, so when your a teenager you really need to get fitted regularly. In the UK M&S I would recommend to get fitted in but there are ways to measure yourself I've heard. Also, to anyone who's mum won't let them get a bra for some reason, just go buy them yourself, or with friends. It's your choice, not hers.
