1. Start with eye contact. Making eye contact with someone is the easiest way to let them know you are interested. Throw a gentle glance that you hold until he notices you. Accompany the glance with a smile and then look away. If the boy does not respond positively, back off.

3. Make your way into the boy's circle of interaction. That means make your way into his conversation or sphere of interaction.

This may be the longest phase of the flirting cycle. You have many opportunities to judge his interest level. If he seems uninterested in your conversation or is directing his attention elsewhere, back off. If he seems engaged with you, continue conversing.
5. Move closer. Once you have established his interest, move closer to him. Sit or stand next to him. If the interest is reciprocal, he will allow you to be close to him. If he is not interested, he will probably move away.
6. Make contact. You may chose to brush his hand, put an arm around him or put your hand on his knee. If he is interested, he will allow you to do this and will reciprocate.

Once you have reached this point, you can be pretty confident that the interest is mutual.
