I will be honest, I never tried this out. Not because I am afraid of the dentist or anything (I got over that fear a long time ago along with my fear of oompa loompas :-)

There is just one gaping reason which kept me from getting my teeth whitened by my dentist...

It costs $500! Now, I don't know about you, but that seems a little (okay, a LOT) too steep for one teeth whitening session. So, rather than taking out a second mortgage, I decided to look for cheaper methods that provided the same professional result.

Bottom Line: No Thanks. I'd rather spend that money on a new wardrobe!

The second of my teeth whitening reviews is Crest Whitestrips.

Crest Whitestrips are probably the most well known method for whitening your teeth at home. Personally, I did have a problem with their teeth whitening system.

You are supposed to apply the special whitening strips for a total of 60 minutes each day (two 30 minute intervals). I followed everything the box told me to do.

The box warns of increased "tooth sensitivity". Well, I'm not sure if this counts as "sensitivity" because I was experiencing shooting pains at the roots of my teeth on only the second day.

I tried to ignore the pain, but then I thought about the possible damage I could be doing to my teeth (if something hurts, it's never a good thing!)

I ended up discontinuing use of Crest Whitestrips by the third day.

The cost of Crest Whitestrips can be anywhere between $25-$50. The shooting pains made them seem a lot more expensive though.

Bottom Line: This isn't a bad choice if you can bear through those pesky shooting pains.

(I had to save the best for last :-)
