All Inclusive Caribbean Golf Vacations
Article from The Anguillian Newspaper dated 8/14/2009
"Mr. Banks also spoke about the Flag/Temenos project. He said the Government had a very encouraging meeting with the Chief Financial Officer who was in Anguilla last week. The Minister reported that the Government was informed that the developer now had an arrangement with Cap Juluca to maintain the golf course including its watering. He said it was hoped that the golf course would be opened November/December and efforts were now being made to find a new buyer for the hotel, villas and estate residencies on the project within 60 days. Meanwhile, the Government is hoping to enter into an agreement for the purchase of the golf course and for the appointment of a manager."
Anguilla's first golf course opened on November 3, 2006 to much fanfare. This golf course project was undertaken by Troon Golf Course Management Company. Troon says they are "the world's leading luxury-brand golf management, development and marketing company".
Troon is joined in this venture by the St. Regis Hotels who are building "18 magnificent Estate Homes with four- and five-bedroom suites, many of which are oceanfront, 10 extraordinary Temenos Villas with three- and four-bedroom suites, featuring vistas of both the golf course as well as the Caribbean Sea, and 64 St. Regis Oceanfront Residences. The centerpiece will include a world-class St. Regis Resort Hotel and indulgent Remede Spa". These facilities are scheduled to open in winter 2008.
The Temenos Golf Club of Anguilla and the St. Regis will surely become one of the most sought after all inclusive Caribbean golf vacation packages.
The location is Merrywing Bay which is on the west end of Anguilla facing southwards towards St. Martin.
The restaurant that caps off the Temenos Club House, Zurra Restaurant, is run by two well know restauranteurs of long standing on the island are Bob and Melinda Blanchard. They gained fame with the restaurant that bears their last name, Blanchard's (located on Meads Bay) and as authors of two books about Anguilla. "A Trip to the Beach, Living on Island Time in the Caribbean", and "Live What You Love", and a cookbook "Cook What You Love". The new restaurant will feature a menu based on the flavors of the Mediterranean.
