A similar application for an automated ball launcher for dogs was created by the innovative engineering students at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada as part of the CanAssist program.
Automatic dog ball throwers were created and have since been revised to help wheelchair-bound clients with limited mobility to interact with their dogs. The original design was for outdoor use and the concepts have later been adapted with less projectile for indoor use along with another prototype to play indoor fetch also dispenses treats. This automatic ball thrower for dogs can launch tennis balls 15 to 30 feet. It's being touted as your "dog's next best friend". But I imagine it's a favorite of many people whose arms can't keep up to their dog's endless capacity for play.
I've been trying to track down this automatic ball launcher on Amazon.com but the GoDogGo Remote Fetch and used models rarely come available on eBay. You can purchase direct from the manufacturer GoDogGo which now has an all new and improved GoDogGo G3 Fetch Machine in stock.
The manufacturer's website is also an excellent resource which describes the product in detail with information and tips on how to train your dog to get used to an automatic ball thrower.

There are two models to choose from. How do you decide? For an extra $35 what do you get?

So if you have a dog that wants to use balls smaller than the average size tennis ball or balls bigger than your typical tennis ball, then the new G3 model is the way to go. Also, if you plan to use the GoDogGo Fetch machine when you're not at home and are frequently out at parks, then you'll appreciate the extended battery power of the newer model.
If you still want to take advantage of the closeout model, on the company's website, listed was a non-dated coupon discount for the 2010 model which they're closing out. GoDogGo has some great information on their Facebook page that recommends balls to help increase the launch distance and height for active dogs that can't get enough play. Spalding is one example of a high bounce ball they recommend.
