Perhentian Island - One of the Most Beautiful Island in the World

A must visit for beach and island lovers

The Perhentian island consists of two island, Perhentian Besar (besar means big) and Perhentian Kecil (kecil means small). These two are rated by some as one of the most beautiful island in the world.

Even that I'm from Terengganu, I only had the chance to visit the island a few months ago and I got mesmerized by the beauty of the sand, the beach and mostly the corals. This has led me to the second visit which was 2 weeks after the first visit. I was just sit there by the beach and I can spend the whole day just by watching the shore (and the ladies).

Visitors normally come to visit Perhentian island starting from March and deserted the island at the end of October as the monsoon approaching. From what i've been told, the largest tourist groups are from Italy and Netherland.

There are a few resorts and many chalets on the island so visitors will not have to worry about where to stay. However it is wise for you to make a booking before you land your feet there. The locals there from generations to generations have become accustomed to the tourists and some of them can speak good english so there is not language barrier.

Get to know more about the Perhentian Island by visiting Perhentian Island page on Terengganu Tourism Portal. This page even got a 360 degree view of the island which was produced by me and my collegue.

The Delicious Keropok Lekor

Terengganu's most famous snack food

This is my favourite afternoon snack since my childhood. The shape is quite similar to sausages only it is made of fresh fishes of South China sea. It can be enjoyed in two ways; deep fried or boiled (i like it fried). And you have this home-made chilli ketchup to dip the keropok lekor with. If you come to Terengganu, don't leave without trying keropok lekor. The most famous place to get the best taste of keropok lekor is Losong. Other famous places are Marang and Kuala Kemaman. To know more, visit keropok lekor page on Terengganu Tourism Portal. It even provide the recipe to make keropok lekor on your own but it's not guaranteed that you will have the same taste as keropok lekor madde by the experts in Terengganu.

The Famous Terengganu Batik Sarong

The home of the finest batik sarong

For ladies out there, you can wear it anytime (my wife wear it all the time at home). Very easy to wear and a lot easier to take it off :). It is a beautiful hand drawn fabric that is very unique and elegance. Not only it can be used as a sarong, it can even be used to design fashionable handbags, crafts and even shoes. A must have for every fashion designers.
