Many doctors still believe that high levels of testosterone lead to poor prostate health and even cancer. However, the evidence shows that when men age their level of testosterone decreases, but their problems with prostate health goes up. The rise in cancer, BPH, and prostate problems in general increase with age. A time long ago the thinking about testosterone took a wrong turn. One doctor in ancient history actually thought the cure to prostate cancer was castration. He really thought testosterone was to blame. Now doctors know that testosterone replacement therapy is a better solution.

Even back then doctors not only knew that estrogen was bad for prostate health, while testosterone was good for prostate health, they also knew of the all-important testosterone to estrogen ratio where testosterone should control and limit the female hormone. Over eighty studies were quoted on the entire subject. Another study in 1938 showed that as men aged their testosterone levels fell and the incidence of prostate disease rose greatly.
Since testosterone had only been recently discovered, the patients were given fresh animal testes with good results. They referred to other studies using extracts for animal testes, as well as the recently synthesized testosterone propionate. The medical profession inherently knew that the male hormone was good for curing BPH, a common malady even then. Modern doctors are unable to prove that testosterone leads to prostate illness.
It is common sense that explains that testosterone is mans friend and not enemy. The medical information is replete with many studies proving the male hormone is necessary for prostate well being and for metabolism. There is a higher chance of prostate illness when serum testosterone levels are low.
Some doctors researching prostate health believe that declining testosterone levels lead to carcinogenesis, and supplementing low levels would reduce cancer rates. These researchers pointed out previous studies showing low male hormone levels in patients with prostate cancer who had a worse prognosis.
A research study in Africa on low testosterone serum levels predicted worse outcomes for patients with cancer of the prostate who had the lower levels of the male hormone. These patients died sooner than patients with higher levels of testosterone.
Hormone based is the consensus as to the problem with prostate health. Men's prostates are affected more by hormones than any other reason, but even specialists rarely test for hormone levels. Their patients need to demand a hormone test, however, this requires going to a medical doctor who is licensed. Blood has to be drawn and analyzed and the cost can be very expensive.
Today, however, you may be able to have a hormone test using your saliva. You simply send a sample of your saliva to one of several labs that perform RIA analysis (radioimmunoassay). Whether or not you have rejuvenation therapy, pending the results of the testing, is up to your doctor and you.
