California is the place for me!!! After 20 years in this horrid place of flat, fat, excess, slow-paced, slow-talking, slow-thinking and small-minded people...I still miss California! It has it's downsides, don't get me wrong, but I'll take them! And if it falls into the ocean, I'd rather float out to sea on it than be stuck here in Texas!

Though I would find it hard to move back now, because of costs and because of the friends I've made here in Texas, there's still so much about California I love. As far as what nature has to offer there, California is tops by far...the weather, the mountains and beaches, the lack of allergies (at least in many places). As far as the culture, it's a toss up. I love the slower pace in Texas and the friendliness of people...but I like Californias indendent spirit and inclusiveness (by independent, I mean that there's not so much concern about what's traditional). Plus I just like the look of California cities...which are often more landscaped, with more plants (climate lends to that), and lots of stucco with tile roofs, and few brick houses. But then, I could do without the smog. As far as food, I gotta say I prefer the health food and shredded beef tacos over fried fare, Tex-mex, and BBQ in Texas (though I like some of that too).

Things Texans say when you tell them you're from California.
Funny, but I keep hearing the same things when I tell people I'm a Californian. How about you? Have any funny/odd responses to add to the list? Once there's enough posts I'll add the favorites from this list to www.Texifornia.com and start a list on a new topic. G-rated posts only please!
Things Californian's say when you tell them you're from Texas
Can't contribute to this one myself, but I'm sure the Texans in CA can share some funny/annoying/stupid responses they've gotten from Californians. (Remember, G-rated only). Once there's enough posts I'll add the favorites from this list to www.Texifornia.com and start a list on a new topic. G-rated posts only please!

- Enjoyed your lens. I've never lived in California, but I lived in Texas for five years. I loved Texas! My favorite Texas saying: Never ask someone if they're from Texas. If they are, they'll tell you. If they're not, why embarrass them?

- I visited both as a kid on family vacations...that's it. Other than 2 years living in Oklahoma City, I've lived here in Hutchinson, KS the rest of my life....what does that make me? a Kansahoman?
