Texting When Driving

I have to say that when I first watched the video above, it made me think, and change my mind on using mobile phones whilst driving a car.

I always took the slightly selfish view that taking the odd phone call or sending of a text in some situations wouldn't hurt anyone. I'm a grown up - I can multitask pretty well - so why not?

You get all these "high on their horse" people telling you that using your mobile phone while driving is dangerous, and the next minute a police car drives past with the driver using his mobile phone. For anyone else that would cost a hefty fine and points on the licence.

Now - the video above made me realise just how selfish I've been. Sure - I might be able to drive and text - but others are not! The baby who died in the above film could have been mine. And my son could have been sitting in his seat in the back, shouting for me to wake up!

That was the thing that really brought the point home for me - and so - while I may have answered the odd call on my mobile phone in the past, that will never happen again! Nothing is that important that it should allow putting myself, my family or any other road users in danger.

Texting when driving, or otherwise using a mobile phone behind the wheel of a car has been banned for a reason!
