Thanks Mom

Thanks to my mom, I was able to take on going to school when I was almost 40. I figured if mom could raise three kids, with no education past high school, I could make her proud of me, by going for something I always wanted. Not that she wasn't proud of me before, but this made her more so.

Thanks to mom, I have never been a big drinker. Even though she could've gotten into a lot of trouble for it, my mom let me drink when I was home with her. Her way of thinking was that I was going to drink anyways, so she would prefer that I would do it at home where she knew nothing could happen to me. Okay, maybe not the greatest approach, but I sincerely believe that this is why I don't drink much now. I didn't have to "rebel" with that, so it wasn't worth it to me.

On the bad side, I do have a nicotine habit now, and I'm very afraid of spiders, but those too, are things shaped by her.

I never had to worry what I could and couldn't tell my mom, she was open to everything, and if we needed to talk, she was always there to listen. This helped me be more open to my son as well. I never want my son to think he can't talk to me. Kudos to my mom!
