2012 Survival - Food, Water, and Fuel

How to prepare you own resources

Food
Canned food items are a must. They are virtually spoil proof. They can with stand major inhabit growths that could make you sick. You will need to have enough canned food items to last you a minimum of three years.

Water
Water mains will most likely be destroyed in the aftermath. In this case, you will have to do two things. One is to supply up in water by have a minimum of three gallons per day supply. And secondly, you need to obtain a portable water filtration system. One would be a hand operated filter pump that would be used in a river, stream, or lake.

Fuel
When it comes to getting fuel, this will be a hot issue. Other survivors will be literally fighting you to the death to obtain these resources so you will need to also gather up in these sources. Keep only enough where you can start fires and heat up unfiltered water.

2012 Survival - Shelter

You will have to find shelter underground. Like an abandoned mine or bunker preferably. In fact, a bunker would be your best option because they were built to withstand the impacts associated to them. The bunker will need to be radiation proof, provide fresh air, lighting, power, water filtering system, and communication.

2012 Survival - Knowing Your Surroundings

You can't stay there forever

Eventually, your supplies will run out. And obviously, to replenish those supplies, you need to venture out of your safe zone. Before any major event happens, do your research first. Take a look at maps of your area. Know where rivers, ponds, landmarks, and other essential points where it could help you find your way around. Have a GPS tracker with you as well. Remember that your are trying to find other safety points other than your bunker.
