The Beatnicks Movie Summary
A synopsis of the feature film titled, "The Beatnicks"
The BeatNicks are poet Nick Nero (Norman Reedus)and musician Nick Beat (Mark Boone Junior), a pair of misfits with bad luck seeking a gig. Their luck begins to change when they find a box on the beach, a treasure chest of infinite beats that will set the stage for the ultimate success, a gig at the Monkey Club. But when Nick Nero falls in love with Nica (Elodie Bouchez), the club owner's (Eric Roberts) captive bride, he learns there are some truths better left unsought. Hard knocks and a trip to rock bottom reunite the Nicks to perform the gig of a lifetime, and return the box to its source.

The picture featured on the right is that of Nica (Elodie Bouchez) as she stands on a ledge of the exterior facade of her captive bride's house, the Ennis Brown House.
One of the most interesting locations in The Beatnicks movie was the Ennis Brown House, a historical landmark designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. In the Beatnicks, the Ennis Brown House belongs to the main villain, Mack Drake (Eric Roberts), who lives with his muse, Nica (Elodie Bouchez). There are not many films that have such great footage of the interior of this masterpiece. Many films have either filmed at the house or recreated the facade in a studio; One of the most notable films that was filmed there was Blade Runner.
The Beatnicks Batman Trivia

The Beatnicks has 3 direct associations to Batman.
-The location where the guru (Patrick Bauchau) teaches Nick Beat (Mark Boone Jr.) about the meaning of life is shot just outside of the batcave where parts of the original batman TV series were filmed, namely where the Batcar drives out of the Batcave. Cool !

- I can't believe this movie took so long to come out ! Norman Reedus from "The Boondock Saints " and Mark Boone Jr. from "Sons of Anarchy" play a poet and a musician in LA looking for a gig. They find this cool looking magic box that creates music that they use to get the gig of a lifetime. One surprise I really did like was that Eric Roberts ("Batman:The Dark Knight"), while in another role as a villain, was really pretty cool in the movie. There is even a scene where he's playing the piano ! I did not know he played. I think everyone should check this movie out. Its refreshing to see good independent films that become available. I read that this movie is self distributed as well. Go Indie's ! Keep it up.
