Lets face it. Not all movies are Oscar worthy. Some movies have terrible writing, terrible direction, or terrible acting. Some have dumb story lines or ridiculously implausible plots. There are even a few that combine all of the above (The Room, I’m looking at YOU), but as every person has their own unique tastes, many of these awful films have found a loyal fan base. Some have flourished despite their terrible heritage and become straight up cult classics while others are so charming that they have managed to shake off the label completely. These movies prove that a bad film can still warm the cockles of even the coldest, most critical heart.

Below, you’ll find the top 100 movies that are so bad they’re good. Browse through and hit the purple “Review It” button to expound on the virtues and delightful imperfections of your favorite guilty pleasure. I sincerely apologize if I’ve besmirched your favorite film’s good name by listing it here, so to show my good faith, I’ve included four of my favorite movies that have been widely panned: The Village, Waterworld, Mannequin, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. Don’t judge me.

I’ve starting the list off with some Nicolas Cage. That man knows his awful, I tell you what.

I think "Blazing Saddles" fits this category. That was one of the strangest movies ever...but for some reason you wanted to see it again. Guess because it was so zany & unbelievable.

    I can't stand this movie! http://www.squidoo.com/jack-and-jill-adam-sandlers-biggest-flop

I think my two favorites on this list are "They Live" and "Road House". Its been awhile since I seen them, but I would rent them again.
  • ambrking May 01, 2014 @ 2:15 am
Out of the list I think I only watched 5-10 movies and so far I think those movies are okay. We all have our preferences.

    I forgot "waterworld", and "battleship".
and I think you should add to the list "weird science" a 1985 film that really is bad.
  • PaigSr Apr 30, 2014 @ 8:33 pm
I still have Weird Science on VHS.
  • leahjsongs Apr 30, 2014 @ 10:35 am
The Tournament. I love me some Robert Carlyle, but this was NOT a winner. Also starring Ving Rhames and Kelly Hu. Yuck. Gonna review it now :)
  • Gavelect Apr 30, 2014 @ 10:14 am
    Daredevil isn't that bad now.
  • Andromachi Apr 30, 2014 @ 10:08 am
I haven't realized I actually liked some of the worst movies ever made. I don't know why some of them are even in the list. For example for some fantasy, sci-fi and/or superheroes lovers (and me) "highlander", "star wars 1", "catwoman", "spiderman 3", "daredevil", "krull" and "twilight" are good movies.
  • SofyBelle Apr 30, 2014 @ 9:26 am
I believe that Napoleon Dynamite needed to be added to this list because it is the sweetest movie ever! :-)
  • MaggieMoo12 Apr 30, 2014 @ 2:47 am
I haven't seen any of these either I feel lucky! There are some movies that have Oscars associated with them that should be on the list - I recently saw Blue Jasmin - although the acting was superb the overall movie was awful!
  • lhbeninger Apr 29, 2014 @ 5:37 pm
Wow, I guess I'm lucky. I haven't seen a single one of these! What can I say?
  • poetvix Apr 29, 2014 @ 4:10 pm
I've seen too many of these to admit to and really love cheesy creature features. Here's a review for Bones from about a week ago. Army of Darkness could go on the list and fit in well too.
  • d-artist Apr 29, 2014 @ 1:42 pm
OMG!!! Every one of these are bad what a waste of $$$$ making them & watching them... JMO! Sorry these are just the kind of movies I never watch. I think out of all of these, I saw, Road House and Waterworld and that was at a friends house and had NO CHOICE... I'm sure I fell asleep.
  • jennabee25 Apr 29, 2014 @ 12:18 pm
    This is a great list!

  • paperfacets Apr 16, 2014 @ 1:31 pm
This is a fun list. You know bad movies are some times the most entertaining. I see that Cage made a few spots. For viewers of the older group a Carradine movie with Father or any brother always got a turkey rating.
  • AtomicGirl Apr 16, 2014 @ 9:15 am
The scariest thing about this list is that I've seen so many of the movies on this list. (Anaconda, Wicker Man, Last Action Hero, and a few others). I actually have Last Action Hero on VHS, LOL.

I think "The Avengers" (the remake starring Uma Thurman) should definitely be included. That was the movie that had the infamous scene of Sean Connery holding a business meeting in a teddy bear outfit. That scene was so awful I almost had a heart attack, I was laughing so hard. Other movies: Can't Stop the Music and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Left off should be Waterworld, The Postman and Phantom Menace. Those are not bad films by any stretch of the imagination.
  • shay_marie Apr 16, 2014 @ 2:45 pm
I love Waterworld too, but when it came out a lot of critics were referring it to it as "Fishtar" (a reference to the flop Dustin Hoffman/Warren Beatty flop "Ishtar" which is also on this list). As much as it pains me, I had to add it here. "The Postman" was widely panned by critics (it got 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, eesh); I've probably seen it about 10 times. And finally, The Phantom Menace. Officially, I will state I added it as a nod to Star Wars fans who would like a platform to pick apart the first new addition to the beloved original trilogy. Unofficially? It's a platform to hate on Jar Jar Binks.

No list of the best of the worst movies ever made is complete without Valley of the Dolls. I had fun writing this tongue in cheek review.
  • shay_marie Apr 16, 2014 @ 2:47 pm
    Love it!
  • jamesdesalvo Apr 16, 2014 @ 12:01 am
Great list. I agree with a lot of it. You should have added Body Rock. It is a God Awful movie with Lorenzo Lamas. Absolutely horrible. I sat through it at a theater in the '80s. We did a lot of stupid things in the '80s.
  • nancycarol Apr 15, 2014 @ 9:58 pm
I sincerely agree with all of your assessment except one: Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. But of course, that's because I'm biased since anything with Patrick Swayze is good to me. haha! Excellent collection of the best of the worst movies!
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 10:38 pm
You can't NOT love the Swayze. He's practically perfect in every way.
  • veryirie Apr 29, 2014 @ 2:52 pm
I liked Roadhouse too, Nancy and have watched it several times. Love Sam Elliott's character in that movie. :)
  • RockinPicks Apr 15, 2014 @ 9:44 pm
You nailed this list on the head. Some of them I liked, but yes they were awful. The Earnest movies were so stupid they were funny. I was forced by my daughters to watch Spice World more times than I will admit to. Oh the shame of it... I loved Flash Gordon. Shush don't tell anyone! Hey were is Throw Mama From The Train? Actually Rocky Horror should make the list. You either LOVE it or HATE it. It was originally a B rated movie that bombed. The actors didn't even know it went cult classic until it started going wild at the midnight movies.
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 10:39 pm
I wouldn't dare ad Rocky Horror. I'd be skinned alive.
  • blackflamingo777 Apr 15, 2014 @ 8:29 pm
I've heard wonderful(ly awful) things about Troll 2. It's so bad they used to show it at a festival I went to every year. You could hear the laughter and the booing for quite some distance. Now I wish I'd seen it. Maybe it's time to look some of these up?
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 10:40 pm
I've never witnessed booing of such magnitude that you describe. Someday, I hope.
  • blackflamingo777 Apr 16, 2014 @ 9:58 pm
It was quite impressive. That and the people singing-along with "The Wizard of Oz" in costume.
  • kschimmel Apr 15, 2014 @ 8:17 pm
You forgot Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! Fortunately, I remembered it: http://www.squidoo.com/a-most-excellently-awful-movie
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 8:19 pm
    I LOVE that movie.
  • CalobrenaOmai Apr 15, 2014 @ 6:41 pm
Interesting and daring list you have here. I was bracing myself when I saw Star Wars Eps 1 even though there are those who feel Eps 1-3 are figments of the imagination. A good bit of these movies brought back memories of my childhood. Mortal Kombat was a good movie but can't say the same about the 2nd installment. Adored Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter from the 90s [that's when I saw it]. Of the list, I have to hand it to you for the live action version of Bratz. I enjoy the animated version but this one.... I would have hung with you for GR [Ghost Rider] 2 because GR was my favorite. Oh... I think started something here. I'll see what I can do.
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 10:42 pm
Many apologies about Ghost Rider. Despite having included 4 Nicolas Cage movies on this list, I actually think he kills it in every movie he's in.
  • inkedwriter Apr 15, 2014 @ 4:45 pm
I can't believe Pumpkinhead i on the list. Love that movie, and have a rather large tattoo of the titular beastie on my arm.
  • shay_marie Apr 15, 2014 @ 5:50 pm
Titular beastie, the witch, and Lance Henriksen make the movie great. The teenagers make me want to hurl myself out a window. It's a delicate balance.
  • DChance Apr 02, 2014 @ 8:03 pm
I am a puppet master fan. I always want to know what those puppets are doing. I think the background is horrible but the actors are trying to work with the script given to them.

I like mommie dearest and did a review for it.

I read it! Thank you for contributing!
  • Jadelynx Apr 02, 2014 @ 11:14 am
I loved the movie Battleship, I cannot imagine why you would put it on this list. Actually, here are a lot of good movies on this list.
  • Merrci Mar 24, 2014 @ 7:22 pm
You have a fun selection on here. Great idea for a list! I agree on Mannequin. If I can remember enough about a couple on here I'll do one! Good luck.
