There are two ways of doing this, but I will tell you what works with all versions of Windows. Go to the start menu and select RUN. Type in REGEDIT and press ok or enter. What opens up is called the Windows registry and it is humongous. Take a peek, but don't touch anything, because if you mess it up, you might not be able to get into Windows again, that's how important Windows registry is.

3. Why does it get corrupted?

Short answer: Because you use the computer. Longer answer: Everything you do on your computer affect the Windows registry in a way. Windows doesn't really care much for cleaning it, so it just does what is necessary, leaving you with a messy registry.

4. What are the consequence of not cleaning the Windows registry?

It can be anything from nothing to a major catastrophe. The most common signs of a messy registry is that applications refuse to open or close properly, fequent crashes, blue screen errors, extremely slow PC, DLL errors, programs freezes randomly.

5. How can I fix the Windows registry?

Luckily it is much easier to fix it than you probably think, in fact it can be as easy as press a button. What you need to do is get a registry cleaner program, run a scan and fix it. It is really this simple and believe me when I tell you it is absolutely necessary that you do this on a regular basis.
