A Colorado Wedding at Stone Mountain Lodge
The Bride Wore White
Inspired by an actual wedding ... Created from a melange of weddings plus my imagination.
The bride wore white
The groom a kilt
The mother-in-law a gown of gilt
![]()
The maids wore pink
The dad wore green
Fresh petals all about were seen
![]()
The piper played When Irish Eyes
The harpist Too Ra Loo Ra
The cloggers clogged a pleasant jig
Applause and hallelujah
![]()
The tables were festooned with lace
The platters high with lamb
The bar replete with whiskey
And servers asking Sir?, or Ma'am?
![]()
The guests were silent for the toast
And lauding words were spoken
"Let persons so together tied
Stay fore'er unbroken"
![]()
With rapt attention listened
Upraised crystal glistened
Clinks heard all around
Not too boisterous a sound
![]()
The bride wore white
The groom a kilt
And only tears of joy were spilt

Cherish - A Wedding Vow
To be read by the groom and then the bride during the exchange of rings
I shall cherish you
For all my years
Wipe from your eyes
All your tears
Laugh with you
Through humor fully
Protect you from
The wayward bully
Be your crutch
To stand you neatly
Share your pain
Lift you completely
If there be children
We shall love them
Kiss them, hug them
Keep them whole
A ring I give you
On gentle finger
As evidence to all
It shall there linger
(he says)
We are bound, united
In time of strife
And too, in time of joy
You are my wife
(she says)
We are united, bound
Never long to be apart
In mostly good, some bad
You are my heart
