Of course, the original takes first place in my heart. Nat King Cole had the most amazing voice, and this song was absolutely made for him. This version was named the Best Holiday Jazz CD Ever by NPR and I agree wholeheartedly. It's smooth and sweet and warms your heart. For what more could you possibly ask from a Christmas song?
Lyrics for The Christmas Song
So you can sing your own cover version

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas to you.
