Red: A Study of Contraditions

Red is the one color that evokes extreme emotions in everyone. It is a passionate color that can lead to violence and warfare, or the flush can signal a love that transcends time. It is power, the banner that leads the troops to war, and a warning of danger up ahead. Red is the symbol of courage and sacrifice, life and death.

It is Cupid on one end and the Devil on the other.

Red is Red

The Nature of Red

Red is considered the hottest of all the warm colors, but red light has the longest wavelength and carries the least amount of energy. It is at the top of rainbow. Its wavelengths bend to the rules of nature just as all the colors do, but its length allows it to dominate. When we think of a rainbow, red is the first color that comes to mind. Is this the source of the contractions and clashing opposites in nature?

Nature's Palette

Rainbow at night, sailor's delight.
Rainbow in the morning, sailor take warning.

Sin and Guilt

Red
is the color of blood and often symbolizes guilt, sin, and anger.

The thief was caught red-handed.

Prostitutes inhabit the red-light district.

Your sins are scarlet and there's blood on your hands.

Red Flags and Warnings

Wrath

Adultry

The Devil surely had a hand in it.

Have you ever seen the devil decked out in green? Nope. Lucifer wears red for its eye catching appeal. The warmth is a lure in and of itself.

It is the symbol of beauty

The Color Red

I love the color red, but usually hesitated before picking up a red sweater or buying a red car. I knew red was a powerful color, but never really thought about the extremes it evoked.

Red is love and Red is Hate

It is Cupid and the Devil

It is life and it is death

I love red, because more than other colors describes the power and essence of life.
Gold and blue follow. The pictures with these three colors intrigue me. Fascinating lens making me dream. 5*
