The DeHaan Lensography

All of Mike DeHaan's Squidoo lenses are logged in this Lensography, sorted alphabetically by title within theme.

Because this page will (eventually) list many lenses across many categories, die-hard shoppers will be hard-pressed to find links to advertisers. Please accept my apologies.

You will also find a list of the other sites where I have published articles.

This is my second-ever lens, published Dec. 26, 2010. It was last revised Jan. 6th, 2012 with some new links to other sites.
Updated the theme Jan. 21, 2012, to point ahead to St. Valentine's Day. By the way, I may need to add more sites to the list.

Book Lenses by Mike DeHaan

DeHaan Lenses for Your Mind

The DeHaan Lens for Hawking and Mlodinow's 'The Grand Design' is my first foray into a book review. It sprints through the basic logic that leads the authors to conclude "It is not necessary to invoke God to...set the universe going". The book explains its provocative concept in an interesting way.

Electronics and Computers

* The DeHaan Lens for the Lithium Iron Battery and Charger is the first in this group. This Squidoo lens for Rechargeable Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries explains why they are superior to Lithium Ion batteries from both the personal safety and environmental perspectives. It points to my previous, related articles in Environmental Graffiti and Suite 101.

Furniture and Household Products

DeHaan Lenses for Your Home

Coat Rack by jon_a_rossThese lenses deal with furniture, small or large appliances, and anything else that generally stays inside your home.

* The DeHaan Lens for Casual Dining Chairs and Bar Stools was published Jan. 3, 2011 and last revised Jan. 3, 2011. (As noted above, this list is alphabetical within the product line. It is not chronological by date of publication). Happy New Year to me.

* The DeHaan Lens for Bed Bug Mattress Protectors was published Dec. 29, 2010 and last revised Dec. 29, 2010.

* The DeHaan Lens for Coat Rack Stands was published Dec. 30, 2010 and last revised Dec. 22, 2011. Come on, you don't want snowy or soggy jackets on your bed's quilted eiderdown comforter! The latest update gives new, creative ideas for placing and using a coat rack stand.

* The DeHaan Lens for Mission-Style Furniture was my very first Lens, published Dec. 24, 2010 and last revised Dec. 22, 2011. I added modules for European "Arts and Crafts" accessories, including some terrific William Morris tapestries.

* The DeHaan Lens for Shaker Furniture was published Dec. 27, 2010 and last revised Dec. 22, 2011. The addition points out that Shaker furniture can help de-clutter your living space in two quite different ways.

* The DeHaan Lens for Winsome Wood Furniture was published Dec. 27, 2010 and last revised Dec. 27, 2010. This is my first Squidoo article that does not point back to a Suite 101 article.

* The DeHaan Lens for Wood Computer Desks was published Jan. 3, 2011 and last revised Jan. 3, 2011.

Health, Weight Control, Diet, Exercise and Wellness

Could You Ask for Anything More?

This will become a large section, assuming that I try to cover everything in the title. So far, it only has one lonely little lens about "weight control through diet". It seems strange to think that "diet" could become "the little lens that grew", but irony is one of my favourite forms of expression.
Weight Control Through Diet
My first Lens in this category was written because I had written a Suite 101 article about the Orlistat weight control medication. This lens is still a work in progress, but the general topic will require a lot of time and effort to develop.

History, Philosophy or Religion

These DeHaan Lenses are Friendly and Not Intimidating!

My lenses in this category introduce their subject matter. For example, my "Doukhobor" lens only gives one brief section to that group's religious beliefs, and another to their history. I found some interesting Doukhobor-themed products for sale via Amazon!
The DeHaan Lens for Doukhobor Beliefs and History
This lens introduces the Doukhobors, who left the Russian Orthodox church, and Russia. Their history is remarkable because they were pioneers in several different, and very unexpected, ways. Some very unusual products are now associated with the Doukhobors as well.(The picture is 'Sketch of Doukhobor

Squidoo Quests

Very Personal DeHaan Lenses

Saturn Rocket Launch by NASAThis "list of quest lenses" will be in chronological order.

* I wrote Childhood Memories of Watching a NASA Rocket Lift-off on Dec. 30, 2010 and last revised it Dec. 30, 2010.

Mike DeHaan's Other Article Sites

Articles by Mike DeHaan

Since this page is about shameless self-promotion, allow me to provide a non-alphabetic list of other sites for whom I have written articles.
This list was first published Dec. 26, 2010 and last revised on the same date.
The DeHaan Directory: the Top Directory for DeHaan Services
The home page is a WordPress blog with my wise comments about the running a small business.

The "About" page is the main directory to all my pages...article sites, my business home page, and others.
Home page for DeHaan Services
This is the home page and the blog for DeHaan Services.

As a special-occasion blog, this will not have regular posts. However, the articles may show a certain amount of research when I discuss upcoming events. Sometimes they are personal blogs or opinions.

I moved my links to every article onto blog posts, because it became silly to have one huge page devoted to every last article.

The DeHaan Blog of Writing
My blog about writing includes what inspires me and how I pursue writing as a discipline.

The articles tend to be short promotional pieces that highlight what I've written elsewhere, but the WRITING TIPS are helpful.

Stored on Weebly, it began as an experiment in keeping a daily blog.

List of my articles in Decoded Science
Decoded Science was launched recently with a strong focus on science, but does cover a wide range of science topics.

I've submitted a few "laboratory" articles for safe do-it-yourself science experiments. Did you know that magnets can repel grapes?

However, my usual subject area is mathematics. I'm pleased that the Mythbuster TV show (on the Discovery network) has covered the "Monty Hall paradox", but not until after I had written my article explaining it.
List of my articles in Environmental Graffiti
Environmental Graffiti is an article website. While their main focus is "the environment", I have written about many odd plants and animals. My most-visited article is "Firestick Cactus: The Plant with Acid Sap".

- -
List of my articles in Suite 101
Suite 101 is another article site. Their vision was to provide "how-to" articles. I started with unusual plants and animals. "Stink Bugs or Shield Bugs, Please Eliminate This Insect Pest!" has been popular in the latest statistics.

I think the most valuable material, from a "public service" standpoint, is in the Bed Bug article.

An Experiment in Social Bookmarking

Google, Facebook and StumbleUpon

In January 2012, I'm testing social bookmarking.

In particular, I'm placing the Google+ "circle me", the Google+ "vote for this article", Facebook "friend me", and StumbleUpon "stumble" links into articles on my various sites.

By the way, I'm trying to use the Google+ "circle me" for my "rel=author" tag. My apologies if you don't know what that's about; I should find, or write, a good description and then link to it.
Friend me at Facebook.
"Friend" me at Facebook.

NOTE: this link takes you away from Squidoo, but you can use the "back" button in your browser to return.
Circle me at Google+.
This seems to work as a "Circle me at Google+" as well as laying claim to being "the author".

Note that I cannot put in the Javascript for the Google+ "vote for this article" icon (in another link).

NOTE: this link takes you away from Squidoo, but you can use the "back" button in your browser to return.

Mike DeHaan's Other Work

What Else Does Mike Do?

Mike DeHaanI do some other work as well. My "About" page does show well.

I do project work through Freelancer. This site matches business project leaders with service providers. I have written online content, including articles and web content, for small businesses around the world.

If you want to start a project, or work on a project, I highly recommend using Freelancer.

To read my biography, with a really nice background image, look me up on the About.Me site. It is free to join.
Important!

Demonstration of "The Most Important Thing" Module

Here I am simply demonstrating "the most important thing" is to use a variety of modules in a lens.

In this case, "the most important thing" is to leave me a comment about what you found useful in this lens. Thanks!

Demonstration of the StickyNote

This is simply a test and demonstration of the Sticky Note module. Someday I may find a legitimate use for it in a lens.

Demonstration of the Google Maps Module

Google Maps

This is simply a test of the Google Maps module, which may find its way into my other lenses in more meaningful ways. Ah, well, one can dream.
I see that it currently only supports the USA.

Demonstration of Amazon Shopping

Looking to the Future

Regular Squidoo-ers know that Amazon shopping modules can often be found in Lenses.

With such a wide-ranging lens as this "lensography", the purpose of this module is to experiment with a few items that might appear in future lenses on specific topics..
