What is Squidoo?
It is a unique publishing platform that allows anyone to make a lens about their favorite topic.

What's a lens?
A lens is basically a self-contained web page that is made up of modules?

What's a module?
Squidoo has gone to the utmost care to make lens making as easy as possible by taking the worry out of design. A module is a basic unit of a lens. A lens is made up of several modules. There are dozens of different modules to choose that you can add content to. Some of the most common are: text box, amazon list, black box, and guest book.

Does it cost anything to use Squidoo?
Just your time. The space is free.

Can I generate an income?
Yes and no. If you make one lens and totally ignore it afterward, chances are you won't make any income. But if you continue to build lenses, update at least once a month, and promote them, then you are most likely going to make some cash. No one can predict how much. There are lens masters who make a few cents and lens masters who make a few hundred a month.

Why make a lens about my blog?
Firstly, Squidoo has a great connection to Google's ranking system so the chances of being found through a Squidoo lens are great. Secondly, making a lens about your blog immediately creates a back link to your blog which improves your blogs rating. And thirdly, if you have any products on ebay, Etsy, cafepress or Zazzle it's also a good way to promote them. That's just three reasons. There are many more.

Anyone can make a lens on Squidoo but plus size fashion bloggers are being giving their own front door -- The Fatgirl's Closet headquarters. Each lens made through this entrance will have a corresponding header to identify it as part of this special club. As well as being the beginning platform for making a lens for the Fatgirl's Club, it is the home for the Top 100 lenses within the club.

It is Squidoo's and The Fatgirl's Closet Club's hope to create the largest directory of plus size fashion bloggers. But it also a place where any plus size woman can come and find information about the hottest plus size fashion blogs on the web.

The Fatgirl's Closet doesn't expect you to provide a link on your blog (but we'd be thrilled if you did) and we wouldn't remove you from the directory because you removed any links about the Fatgirl's Closet or it's club members.

The good news is the layout for your first lens -- your blog -- is laid out for you. All you have to do is fill in your information: what your blog is a about, your blog's URL feed, a fashion tip, your twitter name, and you're are pretty much done. One your lens is completed and published the club leader will go over some tweaking tips on making your lens even better. Once your first lens is finished it is up to you whether you want to continue make more lenses under the Fatgirl's Closet or one of the other platforms Squidoo offers.

Moe has been with Squidoo since July 2006 when a online writer friend transferred a lens over to her because she thought it would be a great supplement for one of Moe's websites. It turned it was! The Write Prompts lens is one of her most successful lenses which she has continued to update weekly* ever since (*this particular lens is designed to be updated weekly).

Moe's interest in Squidoo was slow at first as she tinkered with this one lens for several months before creating another lens. She eventually learned that Squidoo was a excellent platform for promoting her other projects, many of them in the plus size theme (like one of her favorite lenses about Curvy Chics).

Without notice building lenses became more than a fun hobby. In June 2008 she became a Giant Squid which is a lens master with 50 exceptional lenses under their belt. By October of the same year she was accepted into the Top 100 Club. She now has over 250 lens with a goal of reaching 300 before the end of 2010. In April 2010 she accepted the role of Squid Angel to pass blessings on to exceptional lenses.

Elsewhere on the web, Moe has written content for the Large and Lovely site at BellaOnline for over six years. She has a writers community that she moderates every month for over six years and she keeps a number of blogs including a plus size shopping blog.

As a club leader she intends to rally plus size fashion bloggers together under one roof (or into one closet). She'll offer suggestions for improving lenses, support bloggers in their ideas, offer tips for using modules, continually promote their lenses and ultimately their blogs.
