It's how you play the game...

Sudoku is considered to be as one of the most popular puzzle game ever hit the market today. It is basically a game of placing numbers in squares, using very simple rules of logic and deduction.

Bunch of kids and adults find it very entertaining and mind-stimulating at the same time. And most of all, you don't need to worry if you're not a Math wiz (like me! really hated math!!) just to stay in the game.

It's simple! No calculations and special arithmetic skills required!

All that you need is brains and concentration.

This lens will show you all the fun in playing Sudoku and other great stuff...

What is Sudoku?

() is a logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 boxes (also called blocks or regions) contains the digits from 1 to 9 only one time each. The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid.

Completed puzzles are usually a type of Latin square with an additional constraint on the contents of individual regions. Leonhard Euler is sometimes incorrectly cited as the source of the puzzle, based on his related work with Latin squares.

The modern puzzle was invented by an American architect, Howard Garns, in 1979 and published by Dell Magazines under the name "Numbers in Place." It was popularized in 1986 by the Japanese puzzle company Nikoli, under the name Sudoku, meaning single number. It became an international hit in 2005.So you thought Sudoku came from the Land of the Rising Sun ... The puzzle gripping the nation actually began at a small New York magazine by David Smith The Observer, Sunday May 15 2005 Accessed June 13, 2008

The Rules of the Game...

One BASIC rule to Sudoku: Fill in the game board so that the number 1 through 9 occur exactly once in each row, column, and 3x3 box.

The numbers can appear in any order and diagonals are not considered. Your initial game board will consist of several numbers that are already placed. Those numbers cannot be changed. Your goal is to fill in the empty squares following the simple rule above.

FOUR WAYS TO SOLVE SUDOKU PUZZLES

1. Fill the grid so that the numbers 1 through 9 appear in each row.

2. Fill the grid so that the numbers 1 through 9 appear in each column.

3. Fill in the grid so that the numbers 1 through 9 appear in each 3x3 box.

4. A complete sudoku puzzle contains the numbers 1 through 9 in every row, column, and 3x3 box.

I love sudoku! My kids even love it, Web Sudoku is great because you can get easier puzzles using symobls instead of numbers for younger children.
