The movie "The Secret"" revealed to the wider world the Law of Attraction,. But, one of the star "gurus" in that movie, "Bob Proctor," knew that there are actually "11 Forgotten Laws", beyond just the "Law of Attraction". All of these laws are important. If they are not all used, using just the Law of Attraction won't be good enough to get you what you want in life. Among these other Laws is the "Law of Forgiveness".

Bob Proctor says, "In many difficult times it is easy to blame others. Even when it is your fault, it is easy to blame yourself. An attitude that takes your vitality and energy never serves. Learn to forgive. Emotionally let go of a situation and just act to correct it. That is the only way forward."

Now, what is Proctor talking about with this Law of Forgiveness>
?Is he saying that people should not defend themselves against being harmed or hurt by others? Is he saying that you should be kind all the time, and if people take advantage of you, steal from you, abuse your, or walk all over you that you should just look the other way? No, he isn't saying that. That's unhealthy and robotic. You are a human being with emotions, and sometimes those emotions indicate that you have been harmed or wronged by someone else. Maybe they were just being insensitive or didn't think enough before they acted, but maybe they meant to target you for some kind of harm, too. There can surely be nothing good about ignorance or malice that does you harm. What are we supposed to do to follow this Law of Forgiveness?

Well, because of the phrase "Forgive and Forget", we have confusion about forgiveness in our culture. If someone makes an honest mistake, and this honest mistake hurts you somehow, you can certainly forget their offense and forgive them as you do so, for you can be confident that they won't do it again as they never intended to in the first place. In fact, they will likely help right their wrong or otherwise make it up to you for it, since they never meant it.

But, what are we do to with people who keep hurting us over and over again, or people who for that or other reasons we know are acting against us with malice aforethought? Well, we can still forgive them--in the right sense of forgiveness. We can let go of thinking about what they have done to us; in other words, we don't allow ourselves to dwell on that or become obsessed with their villainous ways. We don't trouble ourselves with "getting them back". BUT--you don't forget about what they have done, either. You keep in stored in your memory banks--and you stay away from that person, or you guard yourself against their possible actions ahead of time. It's certainly not "okay" that they have treated you as they have, and if you forget about it you'll put yourself back into the same harmful situation!

The Law of Forgiveness also means you say goodbye to the past. You remember your lessons from it, you remember your past experiences (if they're good you imagine them so you can smile; if they're bad, you learn from them)--but you don't live there. If your father abused you when you were a small child, you realize you are not that small child now. You don't continue to live a life that expresses those emotional scars. You say goodbye to the past--and maybe to your father. But your life is here and now, it's not back then.

Forgive yourself for your own honest mistakes, and don't dwell on the bad person you used to be if you used to be such a one. If you have changed, forget about that stranger.

The 11 Forgotten Laws

I am not a big fan of most online self-help courses. While most of them are inspirational, the effects of them on one's life usually last for a couple of weeks, then the old patterns, as well as the old way of thinking returns. The chosen online self-help course slowly fades into memory. However, the 11 Forgotten Laws is different. What Bob Proctor (The Secret) and Mary Morrisey have put together are universal laws that have been around since man first walked upon the Earth
