THE LAW OF INCREASE

Bob Proctor says of the Law of Increase: "When someone gives you a compliment, how do you feel? If someone continues to compliment your work, do you feel compelled to do it again or even better? This is the Law of Increase. Giving more will allow you to receive more."

Now, this is a hard one for many people to understand or accept. Most people go around deluded about giving and getting. They are taught to believe in delusions and lies about these things by the media and, often, their own parents, who tell them all manner of falsehoods about economics. They believe that prices go up because evil corporations want to steal all their money, and garbage like that. Now, you might be wondering what economics has to do with the Law of Increase. Well, it is rather like one of those "counterintuitive" economics laws. Most people are led to believe that if they give more, there is less left over for them; they don't get that giving more means you receive more. And everywhere around them, they see this lie being repeated over and over again.

So let's say the Law of Increase is like this: the more you invest in your business, the more your business grows, and the greater your total profits become. Now it's true that you have to invest in it wisely and judiciously or you'll be out of business. But you don't lose in business by investing in your business. The more you give to it, the more money you make.

But the Law of Increase is about more than just money or business. It works in everything, in every aspect of your life. The more weeding and tending time, quality soil, water, and nutrients you invest in your garden, the larger and more beautiful it grows. You don't say, "I've lost time, dirt, and water to those plants!" You wisely invested you time and efforts into them, and you were rewarded with greater beauty and/or produce than you would have had if you hadn't invested your efforts like you did.

If you are in a marriage and you give your time and loving feelings to your spouse, you start getting more of that back from them (if you don't, you get a divorce and find someone who does give you those things in return). You don't "lose" something by giving to your spouse. You gain something by giving.

Whatever you give just must be done wisely, in anything. There is a time and place for charity, but the Law of Increase is not about charity cases. It's not about giving handouts: it is about giving teachings, investment dollars, compliments, listening time, companionship, and things like that. The more of these kings of things you give, the more that will come back to you.
