The Legendary Transformers
Transformers is the name of a line of toys produced largely by Takara and sold outside of Japan by Hasbro from 1984 onwards. Transformers has got great characters and created an iconic world, and the mythology still resonates with people 20 years after it was launched. Since there has been a film by Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks studio and an animated series.
The first Transformers toys were created from the different transforming robot toylines from Takara, notably the Diaclone and Micro Change (Microman) series.
There is now a huge range of Transformers toys, games, dvds and collectibles that will appeal to boys of all ages.

The Transformers have long enjoyed a reputation for being able to switch from robots to vehicles. They've been known for that for decades or, if we are to believe the mythology that goes along with the brand, thousands of years. But rarely have we seen transformations that involve actual organic life forms. Leobreaker, however, breaks that pattern, switching from android to lion with a few twists, turns, and switches. The tail from his lion persona becomes a whip for use in robot form while his shredder claws can be snapped out to form robot weapons.

All the Transformers must think it's pretty cool that they can transform themselves from a robot into, say, an airplane or a tank or a bus or whatever. We're sure they feel pretty powerful and intimidating when they pull off that neat trick. But compared to what Unicron can do, well, we're afraid that's small potatoes. Because Unicron can turn into a planet. That's right, a planet. You heard me: a planet. In the lore of Transformers, Unicron is long thought to be merely a legend until he shows up bent on taking over and the heroic Autobots must team up with the evil Decepticons to defeat him. Though it's difficult to rival the feat of turning into a planet, Unicron is pretty impressive as a robot as well, with glowing eyes and fist and three spring-loaded missiles. He even has a sidekick, Dead-End, who fits neatly inside Unicron's leg.
