The Liberal Call for "Strikes" and "Riots"
Ranked #19,538 in Culture & Society, #394,977 overall
"It's better to have a gun and not need it, than need a gun and not have it."
I just finished reading a rather fascinating article from notoriously Leftie rag "The Nation".
Fascinating from the perspective that the Honorary Chairthing of the Democratic Socialists of America is actually calling for riots and strikes (thinly veiled, but real nonetheless), and there has yet to be peep one from the likes of CNN, The New York Times or PMSNBC.
I ask you to take a gander at the following from the Darling of Leftie-Loons everywhere, Frances Fox Piven;
"... protesters need targets, preferably local and accessible ones capable of making some kind of response to angry demands. This is, I think, the most difficult of the strategy problems that have to be resolved if a movement of the unemployed is to arise. Protests among the unemployed will inevitably be local, just because that's where people are and where they construct solidarities. But local and state governments are strapped for funds and are laying off workers. The initiatives that would be responsive to the needs of the unemployed will require federal action. Local protests have to accumulate and spread-and become more disruptive-to create serious pressures on national politicians. An effective movement of the unemployed will have to look something like the strikes and riots that have spread across Greece in response to the austerity measures forced on the Greek government by the European Union, or like the student protests that recently spread with lightning speed across England in response to the prospect of greatly increased school fees."
You gotta be yankin' me. "Will have to look something like the strikes and riots that have spread across Greece"?
Keep in mind that Greece is so broke that this particular nation is about to totally collapse. This is the same Greece that needs severe austerity measures if it wishes to continue as a viable nation. This is the same Greece where the average Greek takes 42.4 vacation days annually.
So the Greeks gotta suck it up and live within their means... boo-freakin'-hoo. Cry me a river, Alexandros.
But I digress, could you imagine the hell that would be raised if a prominent conservative actually pointed to the riots in Europe as a catalyst for change in this Republic? Hypocrisy, thy name is Piven.
Hey -- just because we inherited our democracy from the Greeks doesn't mean we have to inherit their debt and present day laziness and stupidity.

- If Frances Fox Piven applies her "logic" to her personal life her credit card bills must be whoppers. Seriously, what is the drug combo of these people?
