The Original Mouseketeers

The Original Mickey Mouse Club show aired on ABC from 1955 to 1959. The Mickey Mouse Club featured the Mouseketeers which was a cast of young teenagers. Walt Disney was the original creator of the program and actually appeared on the show many times. Eventually he chose Bill Walsh to create and develop the new episodes.

Profits made from The Mickey Mouse Club, along with Walt Disney's first television series Disneyland, were used in part to build the Disneyland Theme Park.

The Mickey Mouse Club was a variety show that targeted young teens and children. Many people who were in that age group during those years grew up feeling as though they knew the Mouseketeers and they were their friends. The show had great stuff such as skits, singing, cartoons, news for kids, and lots of comedy.\

All except for Cheryl Holdridge were a part of the cast in the first season. An interesting bit of trivia is that Cubby O'Brien and Karen Pendleton were called Meeseketers in the beginning, because they were the youngest.

Several series were created for The Mickey Mouse Club:

Corky and White Shadow (Darlene Gillespie)

This was the Mickey Mouse Club's first series which also featured Buddy Ebsen.

Spin and Marty (Tim Considine as Spin and David Stollery as Marty)

The Adventures of Spin and Marty was the first series and aired for 25 episodes in 1955. The second Spin and Marty series was The Further Adventures of Spin and Marty in 1956 and the third and final series was The New Adventures of Spin and Marty in 1957. The adventures of Spin and Marty tool place at a western themed boys' summer camp called the Triple R Ranch.

The Hardy Boys (Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk)

The Mickey Mouse Club provided the first appearance of a Hardy Boys story on television. Two series were created for the show; The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure appeared in 1955 and was an adaptation of the book The Tower Treasure and The Mystery of the Ghost Farm and 1957.

Walt Disney Presents: Annette (Annette Funicello, Tim Considine, David Stollery and Roberta Shore)

This series was about Annette McCloud (Annette Funicello) who was a poor girl who had lost both her parents and went to the city to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle.

Adventures in Dairyland (AnnetteFunicello, Sammy Ogg, and Kevin Corcoran as Moochie)

The series was also called An Adventure in Dairyland and was sponsored by the American Dairy Association in 1956.
