A Walk to Remember
In 1958 Landon Carter is a shallow but well-meaning teenager who spends most of his time hanging out with his friends and trying hard to ignore the impending responsibilities of adulthood. Then Landon gets roped into acting the lead in the Christmas play opposite the most renowned goody two-shoes in town: Jamie Sullivan. Against his best intentions and the taunts of his buddies, Landon finds himself falling for Jamie and learning some central lessons in life.
Message in a Bottle
Boston parenting columnist Theresa Osborne has lost faith in the dream of everlasting love. Three years after divorcing her cheating husband, the single mother is vacationing on Cape Cod when she finds a bottle washed up on the shore. Inside, a message begins: "My Dearest Catherine, I miss you." Subsequent publication of the poignant missive in her column turns up two more letters, found by others, from the same mysterious writer, Garrett Blake.
At First Sight
When we last left 37-year-old Jeremy Marsh (a scant six months ago, in Sparks's April pub True Believer), the science columnist had traveled from his New York base to Boone Creek, N.C., to get a story-and ended up falling in love with Lexie Darnell, the 30-year-old town librarian. Now Lexie's pregnant-but it's true love (and a portable job) that's allowing divorcé Jeremy to move down so they can marry and build a life together. The book centers on the tension-filled runup to the wedding.
The Wedding
Tom Wopat depicts Wilson Lewis's crumbling relationship with his wife, June. Using strong characterizations, Wopat seamlessly switches from male to female roles as June grows to believe that her twenty-nine-year marriage is over. Instead of arguing when Lewis forgets their wedding anniversary, Wopat shows June's depression through sighs, half-uttered sentences, and flat tones. Lewis truly loves June, and, with the same devotion he gives to work, he now sets about winning back his wife. This intense love story portrays the dilemma of feeling taken for granted by the most important person in one's life and ends with a dramatic twist that brings a smile.
The Choice
In his 13th book, bestselling Sparks (At First Sight, etc.) limns the far-reaching implications of several seemingly ordinary choices made by Beaufort, N.C. veterinarian Travis Parker and his next-door neighbor Gabrielle Holland, a physician's assistant and recent arrival. After an inauspicious first meeting where Gabby accuses Travis's boxer of impregnating her purebred collie, the two fall hard for each other. Already dating someone else seriously, Gabby is faced with a dilemma: whether to stick with longtime boyfriend Kevin, or get involved with Travis. A tender and moving love story and a quick read, Sparks's latest does not disappoint.

The English Patient
Juliette Binoche gives an Oscar winning performance as Hana, a kind nurse with a gentle spirit but a damaged heart. She latches onto the burned and charred body of a man known only as the English patient, and ends up caring for him in a shell ravaged Italian villa in Tuscany where she feeds him plums and reads to him. This is one of the most romantic films ever made and is filled with the joy and anguish of love and war.
A Very Long Engagement
Both epic and intimate, A Very Long Engagement reunites Audrey Tautou and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the star and director of the hugely popular Amelie. The love between Manech and Mathilde is not a grand passion, but it is a very real love.
Pride and Prejudice (Full Screen) (2005)
Literary adaptations just don't get any better than director Joe Wright's 2005 version of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. It's a brilliant film. There is something breathless and luminous about it, from its youth and the break from propriety, to the beauty and spontaneity of life and romance, pain and joy, which provide the color.
A Walk to Remember
Adapted from the novel by Nicholas Sparks and transplanted from 1958 to the present day, this admirable teen romance recognizes that two 18-year-olds--Landon (Shane West) and Jamie (pop singer Mandy Moore)--can be smart, mature, and sensible about the very real love they share. He's a popular kid in the cool crowd. She's got a goody-goody reputation as the dowdy daughter of a local minister (Peter Coyote); her values and priorities aren't rooted in peer pressure, and Landon feels blessed by her self-assured nobility. Their mutual affection inevitably heads into Love Story territory and its attractive cast embraces a tone of sincerity and mutual respect.
Message in a Bottle (Snap Case)
The story is touching, romantic and spellbinding. Message In A Bottle" is not only a beautiful story of real love, but one that is also a journey of self awareness, of opening up to the possibilities that life has to offer.
