An Introduction to "The Secret" and How It Reconciles with the Bible and the Christian Faith
One thing I have realized in watching a short snippet of "The Secret" (posted below) is that it is worded in such a way that many Christians may feel uncomfortable about whether this really does reconcile with their faith and the Bible. I have also done a lot of studying into this subject and I am here to tell you that long before this movie was made, God had put "The Secret" into the Bible and that by choosing to live "The Secret" you are also choosing to live the abundant life that Jesus mentions in John 10:10. I trust you will read this lens with an open mind to learn how God wants to bless you through it.
The First 20 Minutes of "The Secret"
An introduction to the Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction - What You Focus on You Attract To You or Become
Take Every Thought Captive to Obey Christ
Now the Bible may not say this in so many words but there are a number of verses that speak to us about the importance of what we think. Here are a few of them:
"Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about those things." Phil 4:8
"We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ." 2 Cor 10:4-5
"So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." Col 3:1-2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect." Rom 12:2
These are just a few of the verses relating to the use of our minds. God wants us to focus on the positive.
The Law of Attraction and the Power of Forgiveness
The reason, once again, is that the law of attraction works and if you are constantly focusing on the negative and what someone has done wrong then you often end up like that person. Instead by forgiving you set yourself free to serve God more fully.
Have you ever noticed how children of alcoholics who blame their parents for their alcoholism and struggle to forgive them for the hardships they endured often become alcoholics themselves? This is just one example that proves how the law of attraction works when it comes to forgiveness and unforgiveness.
When you forgive however you start to think more on the positive and so can attract the positive to you. It is also often a fact that people who were abused become abusers, but if that person chooses to forgive whoever abused them they are also set free to live a healthier, happier and more productive life.
The power of forgiveness really is in the law of attraction.
Positive Emotions and the Fruit of the Spirit
When we present the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, we are using the law of attraction positively and attract more good things into our lives.
Think about this - when you love you will often find that you are loved in return, when you are patient people can't stay angry with you for very long, when you are joyful you find more things to be joyful about. Living by the fruit of the Spirit, the positive emotions, attracts good into our lives and this is why God wants us to live by these emotions.
The fact, unfortunately, is that many people today are not presenting the fruit of the Spirit and are also not Christians so they need to be taught about this in a way that they understand and "The Secret" is doing this.
For me "The Secret" can also be summed up as "Live the Fruit".
Act in Faith
This is the same way we are to live as a Christian. Christ Himself said that "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks". Those things that we focus on will determine the way we act because each action begins as a thought.
Proverbs tells us that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he". If we are continually focusing on the negative then we will behave negatively. If we continually focus on temptation then we will fall. If we focus on Christ and on the Word of God then we will be changed from glory to glory into the image of Christ. What would you rather be?
Our faith has to determine our actions. When we believe that God has good things in store for us, we will begin to act like He has good things in store for us. If we believe God wants to prosper us then we will bring this into being by taking the necessary actions required to make it happen.
Learn what the will of God is for you and then walk in it.

Gratitude - Live a Life of Gratitude and Praise
Throughout the Psalms we are often told to give thanks to the Lord and in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it says, "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
When we are giving thanks continually as we are commanded in Thessalonians it is difficult to be depressed, unforgiving, etc. Thankfulness focuses our minds on the positive and so we attract more positive things into our lives.
How often do you give thanks? Do you just do it at meal times or at church or do you make a regular habit of praising and thanking God in all circumstances? I encourage you today to start making praise and thankfulness a habit, after all, as Christians we have even more reason to be thankful than the rest of the world.
God Wants to Bless You
Throughout the Old Testament, and even more so in the New Testament, we see that God has abundant blessings in store for us.
We know that God is the Giver of all good gifts and that He is our Heavenly Father. In the Old Testament blessing was based on obedience but today our blessing is based on our inheritance in Christ Jesus.
God does not want to see His children struggling but He longs to bless us and give us good gifts. Won't you trust Him today to bless you and believe in His promises?
