Who Will Win The Stanley Cup - The One And Only Stanley Cup...
The Stanley Cup is the championship trophy awarded every year to the best team of the NHL - the National Hockey League.

The Stanley Cup is not only the most famous trophy in the professional sporting world; it's also the oldest sporting trophy (first presented in 1893). Crafted in Sheffield, England, it was purchased by Lord Stanley for 10 guineas (equivalent of $48.67) in 1892.
The bowl on the top of the Stanley Cup is a copy of the original bowl that was purchased by Lord Stanley. The original bowl is being kept at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. It's hard to believe, but at the beginning, names of the players who won the Stanley Cup were added by scratching the bowl with a knife or a nail. From the 1890s, bands were added to the bottom of the bowl to hold the names of the winning teams and players. From 1948, the Stanley Cup consists of a wide barrel-shaped base and a removable bowl and a collar.
Once a bottom ring is filled with the names (it takes 13 years for one ring), another one is removed from the top of the base and retired at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The Stanley Cup weighs 35 pounds and is just under 3 feet tall.

Interesting Information about NHL and Hockey Players
- List of National Hockey League statistical leaders
- This is a list of National Hockey League statistical leaders through the end of the 2006-07 season. Statistics from the 2007-08 season will be included after that season is completed.
Virtually all of these records are dominated by Canadian players, due to the traditional popularity of ice hockey in Canada. In the past, most NHL players were from Canada, and even today roughly half of all NHL players are born in Canada. To distinguish Canadians from non-Canadians, a flag is placed beside players born outside of Canada. In order to avoid visual clutter, the Canadian flag (Flag of Canada) will not be shown next to Canadian players. - National Hockey League lists

Who deserves to have his (or her) name engraved on the Stanley Cup?
There are very strict requirements for that:
Since 1994, a team can petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' name put on the Stanley Cup if "extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play."
And yes, there are 8 women who had their names engraved on the Stanley Cup - as members of management/ownership.

- Troy, nice prediction! I think Calgary is a very strong team. I've always admired Jarome and I like the goalie duo of "Kipper" and "Cujo", BUT let's not forget that San Jose is a very strong team, especially on the road, so they might beat the Flames! Still, my original prediction for the final is Pittsburgh vs. Anaheim and it's possible, although Ducks had a very poor start...

- I honestly think that the 2008 Stanley Cup final will come down to the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Calgary Flames. I think that Detroit will be upset by someone either in the 2nd round or in the western conference final. The Minnesota Wild will make a tremendous run catching the eyes of a lot of people who thought they wouldn't even be in the playoffs due to the number of injuries that they have. They will get by Colorado in 7 games and then will lose in the 2nd round to calgary in a 4 game sweep. Jarome Iginla has had their number all season long!
