Noah Wyle is The Librarian
The Librarian is a series of movies produced by TNT. So far there are three of them. But according to scuttlebutt, the next one will be a theatrical release.
This is a story about The Librarian who is charged with protecting and recovering priceless relics that can be misused by the bad guys for nefarious purposes. And the current Librarian is Flynn Carsen played by the veteran actor from ER, Noah Wyle.
And Flynn is a history geek with 22 degrees. His professor actually "fired" him to push him out into the real world. He talks in complete sentences. Can't help noticing anything and everything... and telling you about it. But somehow, in spite of his "hapless loser act," beautiful women fall in love with him. (shrug)
Besides Flynn, there are three other lovable characters in the Librarian movies:
- The head librarian is Judson who is wonderfully played by Bob Newhart. Now Judson "used" to be The Librarian, but now serves as a mentor to Flynn Carsen.
- The next character is Charlene who is the office manager. And she is played by Jane Curtin. It sometimes seems that her sole job is to get Flynn to itemize his travel receipts. She doesn't seem to have a lot of humor and is quite bureaucratic.
- The last one is Margie Carsen the long suffering mother of Flynn. She is constantly trying to match Flynn with girls so hopefully he can get a love life. The mother is played by Olympia Dukakis. She appeared in the first two movies but not the 3rd one.
Nicole Noone is Way Out of His League
The Librarian Quest for the Spear
How does The Librarian Quest for the Spear start? Like all the other good movies do... at the beginning! You will be introduced to a young man who is in his 30s and still lives with his mother. To get rid of him, his professor signed off on his 22nd degree half-way through his semester. Poor Flynn! Now he has to get a real job...
Flynn somehow lands the job as The Librarian at the Metropolitan Library. And right away they put him to work to save the world. And on his way he meets a beautiful woman who tells him right off the bat that he is "way out of his league" with her. In fact, she is so far out of his league that if his league exploded... she wouldn't hear about it for 3 days.
Well, as it turns out... it is Nicole Noone, played by Sonya Walger, who is assigned to be the bodyguard for Flynn Carsen. And they have an adventure through the Amazon in the quest for the Spear.
It is a delightful movie that is light on special effects (geez, it is a made-for-TV movie!). Again, cheesy special effects and corny adventure comedy. I think it is just fun fare for the whole family to watch together.

Emily Davenport is Smarter than Flynn Carsen
The Librarian Return to King Solomon's Mines
If there was anything that I can take away from this delicious and fun movie it would be that... "Hippos like chocolate!" And if you believe the quotes from TV movies as the truth, even Flynn has a much, much better chance of surviving than you but I digress...The 2nd movie of The Librarian is named, Return to King Solomon's Mines. And like the first one, it is a little light on the special effects but the acting and story is delightful and charming. And if you have no high expectations, then this is the perfect adventure - romantic type movie for the family to watch together. It is a globe trotting adventures in Africa. And of course, you will hear some references to Humphrey Bogart's classic movie, Casablanca.
But of course our hero, The Librarian is accompanied by a beautiful archaeologist named Emily Davenport that is played by Gabrielle Anwar. And yes, she has 3 degrees more than Flynn and corrects him all the time which bother's him to no end! Oh yeah, she hits back. So be careful Flynn, because I think you just met your match...
The million dollar question is: will Emily fall in love with him? And will Flynn be able to save the world once more by finding the King Solomon's Mines? For the answers to these important questions is that you will have to watch the movie to find out...

Simone Renoir Gives Flynn a Love Bite
The Librarian Curse of the Judas Chalice
Of all The Librarian movies so far... Curse of the Judas Chalice is my favorite one. And why? Because of Simone Renoir. Stana Katic does a very special job playing the French vampire that becomes Flynn's latest romantic interest.Stana Katic also sings very well... and of course if you look below, you will find a video of her character singing to Flynn in a nightclub. I would go as far to say this is probably the sexiest performance I have ever seen that doesn't include the nasty stuff that most modern singers tend to do nowadays... (sigh)
But back to the 3rd of The Librarian movies. In this one, you are going to see Flynn Carsen lose his latest girlfriend because he is too busy... saving the world of course! So Flynn needs a vacation to get his life back together. And his dreams lead him to New Orleans right in the middle of a plot by Russians to revive Dracula to conquer Russia with un-killable solders.
But of course, Flynn wanders into the right nightclub of all places where Simone, the French chanteuse with a very terrifying secret, sings her lovely song which encourages Flynn to approach her afterward. Which leads them both into a very unpredictable and romantic adventure.
This is a very enjoyable movie for families and romantics to watch. It is a little hokey because there wasn't a budget for expensive special effects. But so what? All the actors and actresses make this movie really click.

Sexy Stana Katic Singing to The Librarian
Simone's Song
Memories that time could not erase
I'd give it all to feel the sun again
And let it warm my face
To love and lose and love again
As sure as planets turn
Have faith in love, that's everything
Fait toi a l'amour, c'est tu
To lose and love only to lose again
It isn't bad if you believe
That now and always you'll stay in my heart
Mon chere, I could never leave
No, I would never leave
I will never leave you...

- I have all 3 Librarian movies. The first 2 on DVD and the 3rd downloaded from online. I personally think Sonya Walger was the best co-star - she didnt stand any nonsense from Flynn and definitely could keep him under control. I think these movies are wonderful and can't wait to see more.

- Hello ENN, Great question... my understanding is that the next Librarian movie will be released in the movie theater... as opposed to being a TV movie... hopefully, that means better special effects... maybe sometime this year?

- I seem to love anything with Noah Wylie. The Librarian is no exception. Bob Newhart's character adds a sort of level-headedness to the other characters. His dry sense of humor is wonderful. Great lens. 5* and fav.
