The Maker's Diet: A Typical Day on The Maker's Diet
You may have heard about this new "spiritual" diet plan that's growing in popularity among those desperate to return to a more natural way of eating, and wondered what it's all about.
I was curious too, so I checked it out (click on the link to see what I'm talking about). Here's what I discovered:
The Maker's Diet is a Way of Life
By following the Biblical principles of eating (no pork, shellfish, processed foods containing chemicals, refined sugars, pesticides and hormones), our bodies are able to better use the foods God intended us to consume to create a more balanced and healthful body.
In addition to going back to the way we were meant to eat (plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats and gilled fish, organic dairy and whole grains), the plan also requires exercise to help rid the body of excess toxins found in the foods we eat and air we breathe. Regular rest as commanded by Scripture is also important in order to allow our bodies the time to rejuvenate and prepare for the stresses and struggles of the coming week. There's also a meticulous hygiene routine to avoid illness through constant contact with germs.
It's a Bible-Based Eating Plan that's Been Scientifically Proven to Succeed
The Maker's Diet basically takes God's commands for healthy eating, and incorporates it into today's society. It may sound strange at first, until you consider that it's the way people ate until just a few hundred years ago, and managed to live vivacious healthy lives without many of today's modern medicines.

Imagine, eating the same heart healthy things your great grandparents did; working as hard as they did; and still having antibiotics to help stave off today's nasty infections and illnesses. Wouldn't we all be healthier, stronger and more able to enjoy life to its fullest? In some ways, we're luckier than any generation before us. We can have it all! Health, longevity and energy, if we learn to eat the way our bodies were designed to.
It Works!
Now, onto the basics. The plan is divided into three separate two-week phases. Phase One is definitely the hardest, since this is the part where you have to give up all the modern convenience foods and junkie stuff we've all grown to love and crave. In order to break your addiction to refined sugars, chemicals and additives, the diet prohibits all sugars, starches, dairy, processed and packaged foods, junk foods, fast foods and caffeine during the first 14 days. Whew!
I'll admit that was tough. For the first couple of days I honestly didn't feel very well as my body rebalanced itself and broke itself of my many food additive addictions. I hadn't even realized that I was using sugar and caffeine to make it through my stressed-out days at work until I stopped eating them!
Just in case that you're worried that there's nothing left to eat, thus leaving you on a virtual starvation diet for two whole weeks, let me assure you that The Maker's Diet plan offers plenty of healthier substitutes including loads of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats (except pork and shellfish), whole grain breads and more.

For some, the thought of following the Bible in order to lose weight may seem a little strange, but consider this: if He made us, than He surely must know what foods are best to put into our bodies. Give it a try. You may be surprised at the results.
