What Is The New Forest?

The New Forest is one of Englands newest National Parks. It was created as a royal forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror for the hunting of deer and was first recorded as "Nova Foresta" in the Domesday Book in 1086.

21st May 2008 - This is a New Lens and Under Construction. It forms part of a collection of lenses about the South Of England and has been published to allow the inter-lens linking to be compiled. Please check back soon or add to your Favorites to find out about updates.

My Other Lenses About Southern England

Poole - Dorset
Poole Harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world, after Sydney in Australia.

Isn't that interesting? It's called the NEW Forest and it became a forest in 1079! Can't wait to see what new content you add--let me know!

Good start! I visited several countries in Europe a couple years ago, but need to go back to see England and Ireland. :)

I have an interest in national parks and like seeing Giant Lensmasters promoting parks. I grew up at Kabetogama Lake MN the gateway to Voyageur National Park (http://www.squidoo.com/kabetogama) Is there a Squido Group for promting park lenses? Might be a good idea!

Mr. Triathlontraining gave me the idea to do a lens about where I grew-up. It's been fun!

About poddys

I am an English guy who moved to the USA in 1994, spent 12 years in Indiana, then moved to South Florida in 2005.  I have a background in computers, have run my own web sites since 1998, spend more time working than I would like (as do we all)...

I enjoy travel and have travelled a lot in the past, spending a year in New Zealand, plus 12 years of frequent travel to Central and South America and the Caribbean for work.  Meeting a lot of people from different cultures and experiencing different ways of life has taught me that wealth or background do not make a good person, neither does race, colour or religion.  I have met some wonderful people on my travels, and one of the best things I have found is that laughter is one of the best ways to make friends.

I love humor, and have run a jokes mailing list for the last 7 years, helping make thousands of people laugh around the world.

I have been interested in ancient civilizations since I was in my teens. I never imagined that I would ever do any exciting travelling, but then had the opportunity to work in Central America, allowing me to visit the great Mayan ruins at Tikal (Guatemala) and Copan (Honduras) as well as lesser ones in El Salvador. I also have been fortunate enough to visit the pyramids outside Mexico City at Teotihuacan.

One of my main interests is Ancient History. The Greeks, Romams and Egyptians of course, plus the Mayans and Incas, but my main interest lies with pre-history, Sumeria, Babylon, and the cradle of civilisation.

It's a fascinating subject, reading up about things like Atlantis, the Origins of Mankind, whether the Gods Of Old came from another planet, whether there were highly advanced civilisations on earth before the great flood, etc etc. You can read more of this by visiting my Zecharia Sitchin lens. I hope you will.
