Celebrating all that is macabre and strange is The Addams Family. Created by cartoonist Charles Addams, this beloved and ooky family has gone from print to television to movies.
A new musical based on the creepy family is currently in the works for the 2009-2010 Broadway season. Advance notices have Nathan Lane slated to play Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth will take on the role of Morticia.

The Addams Family is a group of fictional characters created by American cartoonist Charles Addams.
The Addamses are a satirical inversion of the ideal American family; an eccentric, wealthy family who delight in the macabre and are unaware that people find them bizarre or frightening. They originally appeared as a series of single panel cartoons, published in The New Yorker magazine between 1938 and Addams' 1988 death. They have since been adapted to other media, including television series, films, and video games.

- THE ADDAMS FAMILY

- Tough call on the voting--Gomez got the nod, but Lurch, Thing and Cousin It were all in the running--with the rest of the gang not far behind.
I _never_ liked the Munsters, considering them a cheap and tawdry rip-off of the Addams Family.

- I used to read Charles Addams books in the library when I was very young (8 or so). It definitely warped my mind, but I loved them. Much later in life, I actually worked on two films: "Addam's Family" and "Addam's Family Values", painting portraits and various old master copies and murals. Too much fun - really enjoyed your lens.......John
