Doing Article Marketing the Right Way
Valuable Prizes in the Article Marketing Contest
If you use Article Marketing, you could be crowned King (or Queen)
There's a great new benefit to using the Article Content King site in your Article Marketing.Every month, starting in August 2009, the top author on the site will be crowned Article Content King (or Queen). But this is no gimmick. It's not simply a worthless title designed to get you submitting articles to their site. The competition carries with it a lot of very valuable prizes.
The competition is open to any member of Article Content King, and it doesn't matter whether you've been a member for years, or you haven't even signed up yet. Everyone who submits good quality articles is in with a chance at the title. And itf you don't win it one month, keep submitting those articles and you could be a winner the next month.
The Rules
The rules are quite simple. Simply sign up and log on to your FREE account at Article Content King and submit articles which comply with the Submission Guidelines of the site.
Your articles will undergo an approval and moderation process to ensure that they meet the quality standards of the site - but don't worry; if you can write useful informative articles using reasonable grammar and spelling, your articles will breeze through moderation. The moderation process is usually quite quick - your article should appear live on the site within 1 or 2 days. When it leaves moderation, your article will have a score of anything up to 30 points depending on its usefulness and qualilty.
Once an article is live, it can be voted up or down by its readers, which increases or decreases its score.
That's it. Just keep submitting those articles and you're in with a chance of being crowned King at the end of the month. Just make sure you have updated your Bio on your member Profile Page, and enabled it by checking the box.
The Article Content King is the author who, at the end of the month, has the highest article score. An author's article score is calculated by adding up the scores of all their articles which have a score above 15 which have been submitted within the last 90 days.
Princes and Princesses
If you don't get crowned King or Queen, you could become a Prince or Princess. This works on a similar principle to the King/Queen contest, but applies to each of the 22 top-level categories on the site. In this case, all articles that score above 15 that were submitted within the last 120 days contribute to an author's chances of becoming a Prince or Princess.
The Benefits
Being crowned King/Queen, or Prince/Princess comes with some valuable prizes.
The King/Queen will receive
- recognition on the site's Home page, the Top Authors page and the Members Area, with a link to their Profile Page
- recognition on every page of the site via the page's toolbar
- a full page dedicated to them and their online business on the Article Content King blog
- recognition as best author on the site and have their main business promoted in a PR Web press release. (Value at least $240)
- $100 cash
- an optional interview with one of the Article Content King team. The interview will be posted to podcasting sites and social networks
- their status as King or Queen tweeted to at least 100,000 Tweeple on Twitter
- at least 10,000 advertising credits, which allows the author to have 10,000 advertisement impressions displayed across the entire site
The Prince/Princess of each category will receive
- recognition on the site's Category page of which they are Prince/princess
- recognition on every page of the site via the page's toolbar
- at least 1,000 advertising credits, which allows the author to have 1,000 advertisement impressions displayed across the entire site
- a mention in the Press Release which announces the winners
- 2 advertising credits per article view (4 credits for silver members) for as long as they hold the position.
- an optional interview with one of the Article Content King team. The interview will be posted to podcasting sites
- their status as Prince or Princess tweeted to at least 100,000 Tweeple on Twitter
Even if you're not yet a member, you're still in with a chance if you can write good quality articles. Some of the site's 22 categories don't have very many submissions, so if you write articles for one of those categories, your chances of becoming Prince/Princess are very high. And if you keep on submitting articles, you could retain the title and all the benefits that go with it, month after month after month.
So if you're into Article Marketing, or even if you're just beginning, go and sign up at Article Content King and submit those articles.

Article Marketing Begins a New Lease of Life
Improved Article Quality Results in More Traffic
The biggest problem with Article Marketing is junk. People hear about Article Marketing as being an incredible, free way of getting back-links to their website, and immediately start churning out articles to get as many links as possible.
This is the first mistake. They get so wound up in the desire to get as many links as possible that they lose sight of what else they should be getting from their marketing efforts.
The main culprits are the so-called SEO experts. They tell people to get as many back-links as possible so that they will get a good position in the search engine results pages (SERPs).
So the Article Marketer starts churning out hundreds of articles and submits them to a wide selection of article sites. Eventually, the marketer runs out of fresh ideas, so the quality of the articles begins to diminish. They become shorter and the content starts to become stale. Other marketers use Article Spinner software which re-writes an article and creates a few hundred variants of the content.
The resulting articles often range from poor to unreadable, which means that the overall quality of the article site on which the articles are posted diminishes and the position on the SERPs falls - the site gets dragged down by the poor content.
Improving The Content
The owners of popular article site, Article Content King have been working hard to clean up their site. Old, low-quality articles have been removed, and newly-submitted articles are now subject to approval and moderation before they become live on the site. As a result, the overall quality of the content of the site has improved enormously.
So who are the moderators?
The moderators at Article Content King are the members and the visitors. Any article that is submitted is first approved by the owners of the site. To be approved, the article must comply with some basic submission guidelines. After approval, the articles then go into the moderation queue.
The Article Content King members can then rate the article on a scale of 1 to 10. If the article is not worthy of space on the site, the moderator scores it 1 or 2 and writes some suggestions on how the article could be improved. The author must then improve the article and re-submit it for moderation.
Once an article has been given a rating greater than 2 by three different members, it becomes a live article. From this point onwards, any visitor to the site may rate the article by giving it a thumbs up, or a thumbs down. These increase or decrease the rating by one point respectively.
When searching on the Article Content King site, the articles with the highest ratings are given priority in the search results. This means that the better articles are given more exposure, and the poorer articles move into the background, giving visitors looking for information a better experience.
What Effect Does This Have?
Since starting the moderation system a few months ago, the owners of Article Content King have already noticed a marked difference in the site. Traffic is improving every day, and the time that visitors remain at the site is increasing. The higher quality articles are more likely to be read through to the end, which means that the reader gets as far as the author's resource box. This is incredibly important to the author (although most still don't realise it!). If the visitor reaches the resource box, there is a chance that they will click on a link in the resource box, thus visiting the author's web site.
That is the real benefit of article marketing. Getting back-links fades into insignificance compared with getting traffic delivered to your site.
Previously, when the site was full of junk articles, nobody read them, and therefore never reached the links in the resource boxes.
If you are into Article Marketing, review how you do it. Stop churning out junk just to get a few back-links. Start writing, interesting, high quality articles and start getting traffic to your site. That's what marketing is for.
